All you ever wanted to know about helmet safety and testing can be found here.

I'm not that smart, but I usually am resourceful.

I was at CV Products (www.cvproducts.com) in Thomasville (about 1.25 hours from Durham) recently to look over their selection. IIRC, they brought a trailer over and did a "fitting party" in the Triangle a few months ago. IIRC, they only have Bell and Sparco products. I'd like to find someone that I can try the latest Bieffe helmets - the Bell's were a close fit and the Sparcos didn't seem to fit - it just seems like the Bieffe I have fits "perfectly" - not sure if that's because it is worn in or just because of the shape of my head. Maybe I'm just very picky. I guess I'll be making a trip to Simpson to try their stuff on...

Regards,

I was at CV Products a few weeks ago myself. Might be useful for trying on helmets if your in the area, but I sure as heck wouldn't buy one there. Their prices were silly, seemed to be full list price. Same helmets could be had from Helmet City for easily 40% less.

Dude, I've heard of a place called Helmet City too, but the girls there knew nothing about racing/motorcycles or anything, yet seemed very willing to help ;) - AB

CV's prices were more or less the same as the mail order outfits I looked at aside from having to pay tax versus free shipping (they are a mail order outfit after all, it just so happens their warehouses are in NC).

Is this the website for Helmet City?
http://www.helmetcity.com/

Comparing their prices to here:
http://www.saferacer.com/bellhelmets.html

...they seem to be more or less the same...what am I missing?

The prices I saw marked on the helmets in the show room, were not in line with the online "sale" prices listed at the above link. The marked prices were at least as high as "regular" prices listed on that site.

i have not seen any real bargins on the internet for SA2000 helmets. helmet city is advertising SA2000 but the listing per item is SA2005.

my full face is a tad too tight on my cheek bones. 7 1/8 simpson super voyager. i like the helmet so one more season is the plan.

i bought my open face from saferacer, as well as a few other items. he is not always the cheapest but has been very reliable. suprisingly, Summit is cheaper on helmets.
