Wow, you did hit that crack pipe hard! FWIW, I have done Road Atlanta in August and it can be miserable. Bring a way to make shade and huge amounts of ice. IIRC, the paddock is almost without shade and paved all over. Rumor has it that you can heat-cycle tires just by leaving them out in the sun all day.

Yup, me and the Z feel right at home out there. I'm thinking of possibly just taking July/August off or maybe going up to Summit Point and VIR only. Even in September Roebling was pretty hot. That schedule is tentative but 4 of them are definite. We'll see just how brutal this summer gets. I have a popup 10x10 canopy that I bring. I'll be able to scout out RA in March to see the layout since that is a definite event. Thanks for the heads up. I expect GA to be hot from Jun-Oct. Heck it was nice and warm when I went in Nov.

Until I run out of money for entry fees and tires it's all good...

Bahhhh you will only do 6 next year. After your first trip to CMP, you wont want to go back......

Not a problem. I'll just add VIR or something else 2 extra times
I've heard all kinds of stories about CMP. Basically an oversized autocross course without cones. Tough on brakes and no big straights. We'll see.

not to mention the locals are very unfriendly, or so i have been told. Chin Motorsports said they had no desire to be at CMP for that reason.

I would rather track a Yugo than daily drive an Enzo on the street. Needless to say, an STi doesn't really make the cut. Steet driving just isn't fulfilling for me.

In fact, you can put whatever you want in these blanks:

I would rather track a _____ every day than _______________________. 8)

You do realize, not everyone's view of the world is the same as yours right Rich? And just because someone might appreciate an Enzo without taking it on track does not mean they are stupid, or crazy or wrong.

No matter what you say, I'd still track a ZL1 Corvette.

Thanks for the info Mitch. I'll get signed up. Do I have to own a Bimmer to join? And if so can I just list yours, but show up with a plastic car

I don't believe that you have to own a BMW and they allow plastic cars. The only club that I know of that only allows their brand of car on track is the Washington area PCA. I quess they can't handle being pass by a BMW or a Corvette.

Yes, please come up to Summit Pt. It's nice to see Tarheel folks in my neck of the woods.

See the MazdaDrivers (http://www.mazdadrivers.com) schedule for an excellent day a Shenandoah in Sept, and a few extra days at VIR. They definitely allow plastic cars.

I'll throw my tentative schedule in the ring for fun:
Feb. 11-12, VIR Full Course - THSCC
March 25-26, VIR North Course - MazdaDrivers
April 8-9, VIR North Course - THSCC
June 17-18, VIR Grand Course - MazdaDrivers
September 16-17, Summit Pt. Shenandoah Circuit - MazdaDrivers

I may run Summit main with NASA or EMRA, and I'd like to make it up to BeaveRun also. It's not terribly far from me.

Ok I'll sign up. I'll get my money back in savings signing up for one event. I ran with PCA-CE (Coastal Empire). That Porsche Club is just a fun loving bunch with no pretense. I spent most of my time on track with all P-cars. Only 1 P-car owner refused to point me by until he got flagged for 2 laps. We had a great time! I will run with them any day.

Ok Tom let me see if I can make it up there for the September event. I don't have anything cast in stone for that month. Jul-Sep is pretty open to me where I go. Mar-Jun and Oct-Nov I'm pretty sure which tracks and events I want to do.

You know better... Out of 14 events I'm going to do my best to get into at least 6-8 events. I'm going to sell the C4 to offset some of my costs. We'll see how it goes.

CMP has 2 big straits, however that is also why it is hard on brakes, because both big straits are followed by slowish right handers. CMP is a fun track, turns 1 - 11 are a blast, 12 and 13 are basically where you here people come up with the autocross comments, but they still take skill to drive correctly so do not sell it short. CMP Is a great learning track, however I would not go there in july or august as it is hot hot hot. If you are worried about heat, you won't neccisarily get a brake going to summit in july, I have been there the last three July's and it has been around 100 for 2 out of three of thoose events.

Still a bit early to decide now, but I might go to that one.
10/28/2006 Road Atlanta PCA- Peachstate Region
I did one with them in 2004 around the same date and it was very good.

Thanks David. I'm not writing off CMP. I'm going to go do it and decide for myself. That's not good news about Summit. I was hoping that would be far enough north and towards the mountains that it wouldn't be an oven... Oh well we'll see. I've decided that playing speed racer (DE or AX) in 100deg weather just isn't worth it to me. I'm too old for that crap.
