Congrats to all thoe first timers who I hope completely enjoyed the weekend. I once again heard, from someone who had not been to The Rock, that it was more fun then they expected. Too true!! If you decided not to come because the track looked too small, too easy or something, force yourself to join us next year.

Ryan, I'm glad to say that the curse ofthe yellow CRX is broken!

Thanks to Mark, Stacy, Adam, John, Brad, Chuck, etc etc (forgive me for forgetting more than a few) for once again putting on a wonderful event. Great way to end the year!

Ron

Here you go Kevin:

Here is another. Not a very fast lap, but you get a look at a Miata getting loose exiting turn 4:

http://theclient.hypermart.net/fortnert ... emiata.mov

Download and save if you want them. I have no idea how long I can keep them online beyond a month or so.

Another good thing to see at our event that I had not seen in a long time:
Great sence of comaradary and sence of humour.

I hate to keep making the same compairision but it was like CarGuys in
the old days when you can be Mooned by a corner worker station for
no apparent reason.

I was busy most of the time but something was going on with Vincent
Keene. Cars showing unique livery in tribute to Vincent. I think
they were trying to tell Vincent he was the #1 driver in Yellow Group?

Then comments on Mark Cooper's sexual orientation followed.

Sometimes, you just don't ask questions

Hey, thats me!!!

That the second time I tried the "rim shot" thru 3/4 obviously I rotated the car a bit much. It was fun, but certainly not fast. Thanks for the vid.

Hey Jason, Im working on taking the drift king title from you.

I'll echo previous comments re: traffic management in the Yellow group. I heard several positive comments from instructors regarding Yellow's responsible handling of traffic and passing and generally keeping things sorted out.

Looks like everyone drove within (well, mostly within) their car's envelope. I was impressed with the quick points, acknowledgements and general awareness of everyone in Yellow. We witnessed some excellent driving from Holton, Pastorius (his first REAL event, folks), Keene, Mark Mason (DAMN, that blue Miata's FAST! Hey Mark, stay out of Time Trials. You wouldn't like it :) ), Mark Cooper, others I can't remember. AND, as I recall, we received no more than one yellow flag in any session. Maybe we aren't driving close enough to the edge 8) Gotta crank it up a notch!

As usual, great event, Mark V., Stacy, Alex L. et al!!!

Hey did anyone pick up a tire that was left in the garage? It would have been near garage 38 (I think that's where I was). It was for Bill Kuiper (in the BIG white and red Cyclone/ ex NASCAR car) for his trailer.

If you picked it up please let me know and I'll arrange to get it from you.

Thanks

Ron Spencer

Oh there was a reason all right. It probably had something to do with me telling Oscar he was "#1", if you know what I mean

Oscar's new nickname: Black Hole.

Outstanding event, outstanding wather. I can't get enough of Rockingham (but my Toyos sure did)! That track is just FUN! I even forgot about not having a garage even though I was the 3rd person to sign up in July....

Matt: Bitch, bitch, bitch. Stacy already apologized for you not checking the box! Plus you HAD a garage whenever you needed one! Man, some people are so hard to please. Especially when they are slow. Can't you manage better than a 1:10 in that butt heavy Sentra?? Come on, bring some game!

I missed Mark's "tribute" to me because I'm was so busy pointing him by every session. Kevin Butler informed me that Mark had a sign telling me I was indeed number one and that he about laughed himself off the track when he saw it.

The following session I made sure that everyone including Mark saw my tribute to him personally. I even held a point-by for an extra passing zone just so he could stare at it a little longer.

Did any one get any pics of these "tributes"?

A bit more detail on the trailer spare left at The Rock. Its a 5 bolt gold wheel with a tire with lots of wear. If someone picked it up please let me know.

Thanks!

Ron, thanks for backing me up... but at the risk of sounding like I'm caving, I should have reserved Matt a garage anyway... not because he signed up so early (thank you BTW) but because he is a representative of one of our major sponsors... for that, I do apologize.

Jim Pastorious, I happen to know your instructor and a couple times throughout the weekend he mentioned how well you were doing. Said you were a natural at this (damn you, I had to work at this to get somewhat good!). He had a greattime and enjoyed riding with you. Sounds like you will be moving up the ranks quickly.
