Here's my issue... I'll have a valid 2005 SCCA logbook for the Nov 2005 event, but come the Feb 2006, I'll have 2 issues...

(1) Why tow the car home to MA/NH to sit over the winter and get towed back down to NC in Feb for VIR? I'll be leaving it with a friend in NC.

(2) Even if I did tow it home, the first SCCA tech day isn't until early April up here.

So, will my 2005 logbook be OK at the Feb 2006 event, or do I need to find someone in NC that can do an annual tech for me right before the Feb VIR event?

Thanks,
Diane

While it is no guarantee, the past years, previous year tech inspections have been valid for the February event.

Diane,
I would leave the car down here for the Feb VIR date. I'm sure we could find a Tech Inspector (wink ...wink) to check your car out and give it an annual THSCC inspection and then wait until you get back up to whereever you' re living...I know it has to do with a lot of snow .
I do know an SCCA scrutineer in Cary that would do an Annual for you if you want to go that route. I'm not sure about the ramifications of having someone out of your Region do an annual..it really shouldn't matter, though.
You really need to give some serious thought to relocating. Although there wouldn't be any guarantee that they wouldn't tear your bumpers off down here either.
Later,
Chris

As in years past we will honor 2005 annual tech & Log Books for Feb
but 2006 tech (or Log Books) will be requried for April. AMB transponders
are a seperate issue-they will be requred to run in the TT.

Thanks Mark. Got the AMB covered, I was just concerned about having a "current" tech for Feb 2006 at VIR.

:cheer: See you at Rockingham!

Chris - I'm hoping to get a gang from up here to make the tow down to VIR for a double sometime next year. We'll see then if the SARRC/MARRS folks will leave me my bumper or not. :)

It is not my experience in SM that the SARRC/MARRS doubles are a good idea if you intend to keep your bumpers. Or any other body work, for that matter.

My personal opinion is that the competition is lacking in those races even though there are a lot of entries. It is also my opinion that a normal regional weekend at VIR is much more fun than the double. In the double you get one practice session, two qualifying sessions, and two 30 minute races. If you're lucky the practice and qualifying sessions are each 15 minutes. That's 1:15 of track time. At a regional with an ECR, CCPS, and SARRC event you'll get at least one practice and two (or is it three?) qualifying sessions, and the three races. The races alone add up to 2:45 of track time *plus* your 15 minute qualifiers and practice. Add to that while the number of entrants isn't as high, the quality of entrants is higher than the double, so there's usually less wreckage.

But that's all my opinion...I really like the longer races (CCPS is 45 minutes and the ECR is 1:30) and don't much care for sprint races on VIR full (not enough corners per minute in a 30 minute race).

Thanks Donnie for the "local" insight. :) I'll keep that in mind...

Diane ~ who thinks SM in general is a bad idea if you want to keep your car undamaged.

The ITA conversion is pretty easy...

I know there are some seriously fast ITA guys up there in your neck of the woods, but if the fields aren't deep I can see it being a LOT less fun.

I'd rather be in SM and get hit while having someone to race with, then run in ITA and drive all by myself with never any body damage.

With SM, no matter how slow you are, there is always someone to race with (and I don't mean the front-runners when they lap people).

Diane :)
