We had a TT staff meeting last week and as a result I finished a first draft of the 2006 TT Series Rules & Proceedures. With all the emphasis on the AMB system and putting together a format with the right ballance of competition and sanity- I have not mentioned Provisioinal Drivers in a while.

Just want to reitirate, we will keep at least two (3 or 4 vehicle) run groups
running the existing "serial-spaced out-no passing" format. That will allow
new drivers to get into the program, ramp up their skills, and buy a little time before having to shell out for a transponder. This is not new and was always in the plan.

HOWVER, this is not an "OUT CLAUSE" to having to get a transponder. ONLY provisional drivers run in the provisional run group! That is those who meet the two HPDE school minimum, with instructor signoff, and the
current event could be the second of the two schools needed. In other
words a dedicated TT novice run group-but we prefer not to call them
novices. Time Trial drivers must be very comfortable in traffic and
the provisional group will allow the time to get to that comfort level.

We should have more provisional drivers join us this comming season.
6 to 8 slots per event should be more than enough. How long a driver stays in the group will depend on the individual but they won't be expected to stay in the provisional group.

Thus, safety and transponder ugrades can be done in two steps. Should
you find the TT is not for you, you will have a safe car for track events but
not have a transponder you can't use.

As far as the rest of us, I expect to publish the guidelines as soon as
we finish reviewing them, but I can give a sneek peek of the highlights:

- 10 minuite sessions (4 hot lap minimum)
- passing in the designated HPDE passing zones (pass and expect to be passed in the usual places)
- passing with only with point, in other areas, one car at a time.
- no bump drafting (damm!)
- 0 tollerance on car/car contact (that should be obvious)
- mandatory formal TT drivers meeting on the schedule each day not
part of lunchtime brake.
- no published times during the HPDE
- support 50+ entries per event (No more wait list!)

The TT Rules and Proceedures will be "generic" guidelines common to
all events-most of passing protocall will be specific to venue convered
at the drivers meeting-so there will be more emphasis on the TT drivers
meeting.

FEB VIR Full Couse Event is the kick off event.

Registration for Rockingham is still going strong dispite the recent
gas crunch which should only be short term. Anyway, I'm sure glad
our next THREE events are CLOSE to home!

Mark am I correct in that the 10 minute sessions will be for "qualifying times for time Trial"? For that session is passing allowed in the deisgnated HPDE areas without a point and everywhere else with a point? Forgive me just not clear here.

Thanks
