This happened Saturday at Road Atlanta during the ProIT race.
I was in 4th, trying to stay close to 3rd to set up a pass,
in the closing stages of the race. I was hit by an IT7 in
the left rear as I passed him on the outside of turn 5,
spun to a stop, then was hit head-on by an ITS 240z
who simply didn't have time to miss me. He was going
probably 50 mph at the time of impact, and I was sitting still.
The hit knocked my car about 20 feet back from the
edge of the track, across the gravel pit to the access road.
I am completely fine physically. I wear the Isaac head
and neck restraint, and I felt it work! If I am able to make
it to the Roebling event, I will have the Isaac with me,
and anyone with a big enough head to use my helmet can
try it out. They also have a rental setup that anyone can
use for a weekend for something like $65, which goes
toward the purchase of your Isaac when you decide you like it!

Gregg Baker, "Main guy in charge" at Isaac, was nice enough
to host this picture of the aftermath. He estimates the impact
at somewhere between 5-15 G's. (Funny, that is where I
estimate the cost!)
Bottom line: Get a neck restraint, and wear it any time you
are on track! We may not go "that fast", but we can still have
bad enough wrecks to cause some serious damage to ourselves.
