Aimed at the W-2-W racers:

For those racers considering a H&N restraint system, these guys are having a 2004 clearance.

Diane ~ who ordered her's last night :)

Disclaimer: Again, this is aimed at the W-2-W racers. I don't want anyone thinking I'm trying to assert that this is *necessary* for HPDE. Heck, it's not required equipment (yet) for Club Racing, though the consensus among the racers I know is that W-2-W racers should use *something*.

Interesting. Not that I claim to know anything about this, but I wonder what the helmet manufacturers think of drilling holes in their product? :?

From the isaacdirect.com website:

Quote:
An adhesive kit is available for installing the helmet mounts. This Isaac® exclusive uses an aerospace-grade binary bonding agent. It is simple, fast, does not need be kept tight like mounts installed with nuts and bolts, and does require that you drill your helmet.

This is a relatively lively discussion on the different devices available. People have their favorites, and I'm not advocating that this is the "best" option, just that if this (the Issac) is the option someone is planning on going with, then here's a chance to get one at a reduced cost.

Pardon my ignorance for not reading all the data. However if you look at this picture I think you'll understand why I was assuming holes would have to be drilled. I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed, but those sure look like bolts to me.

They started out drilling holes in the helmet, as most other H&N restraints do (ex: HANS). Of course, drivers all over the place drill holes in ther helmets for drinking tubes and all sorts of stuff, so I doubt it is a huge deal.

Now they use a 2 part epoxy, which is what every one I have seen has.

I have been running an Isaac for 2 seasons now, and LOVE it. I will have it at the Feb event at VIR if anyone wants to come look at it.

I use a HANS and don't find it *nearly* as invasive as I thought it would be. It's really only a problem getting in and out of the car, and even then once you've done it a couple times it's just not an issue.

If the only reason you *don't* have one is that you're worried it'll be "in your way", forget it. Get one. Research which one you like best and get it.

How is the Isaac for ease/speed of getting in and out of the car? I've been thinking about getting something for me for rally, but you often need to get in and out of the car quickly (to deploy warning triangles or run to a control, for example).

Thanks for any info.

Check this thread out (same as above). It has opinions on ease of use.

I would buy and Issac just becase of hte way Greg Issac supports his product, they have a try and but program they have showed up at sevral big road race regionals to let people try it and seems like a good company overall. The Issac also seems to have some help with side impacts as well as frontal.
