I don't know if anyone else has raced with them, but Duff Beer (Charles, Ricky, Robert and me) went to AMP last weekend and raced in their GP4 class. Only 3 cars showed up for GP4 out of 22 cars overall.

It's an 8-hour race on Saturday and Sunday, separate race each day. They only want experienced drivers (Solo or Instructor level or extensive W2W seat time) and class by power/weight (GP1 through GP4). There is no value requirement, so bring what you got.

They are extremely contact-averse, which we liked, and the driving was very good. One car did have a brake failure and smashed in to another car, destroying one car and seriously damaging the other. Both drivers were fine.

We won the Saturday race and came in 3 laps behind an E30 (ETA-engined 325E) on Sunday. As an alternative to the Chump crash-fest, I'd like if it had more cars in the field, but we'll be racing with them again.

We came very close to entering this race, but we were concerned about lack of participation. Glad to hear you guys had a good event.

Also, WRL has one convoluted registration system. It is like navigating a maze. We looked into running that AMP event right after Barber, and only ONE car was signed up. I actually like racing with 80 cars on the track, so the lack of participation is what kept us at CMP instead.

Apparently 22 cars is way more than they had last year. Based on their cars/mile formula, the most they would put on AMP is 37 cars, so they will probably never have a LeMons-style CMP traffic jam. It looks like the most that they'd put on CMP would be 57 cars.

You guys would probably have been in GP3 racing against 5-6 other GP3 cars. GP2 and GP3 seem to be the most popular classes, with only a few people in GP1, GP4, and GPX.

We signed up for the December COTA race, and we may also sign up for their November Corvette Museum race.

At this point, racing the Duff car in LeMons Class A and getting beat by 30+ laps is not something that we want to do, so we'll keep looking for some alternative. I'd thought about doing the AER race at Summit Point in September, but we're going to do the LeMons CMP race that weekend.

As you know, Lemons classing is purely subjective, but I agree that winning Class B should not be grounds for be moved into Class A unless you are finishing in the top 10 overall.

I'm happy as long as we are competitive, which we currently are. We have a top 10 car all day long, a top 5 car when we don't step on our own d*cks, and we could possible win, maybe, if the stars were all to align.

We'll see what happens at CMP. It would be nice if LeMons had a handicapping system. I wouldn't mind pit stop time minimums and driver stint time limits as well.

This is our third trip to A, and usually after a few races they realize that we aren't getting any faster, so they put us back in B.

If they could get the car counts up I'd love to jump over to one of those 'bracket racing' style events.

PTE's attendance has been lacking lately. There are plenty of cars but lots of excuses from the drivers on why they can't show up. (If you car can run 2:17s-2:18s at VIR-F you can be regionally competitive in PTE!)
