We signed the Duff car up for this, although we were 95th out of 85 entries, so we may or may not get to go. We signed up in an undersubscribed class, so we may get selected anyway, and WRL management is now talking about running either 3 days (Fri-Sat-Sun) or 4 days (Fri-Sat-Sun-Mon) because the race filled up within an hour of opening registration. They had 69 entries in the first ten minutes.

I've talked to a couple of guys that have raced with WRL and gotten very favorable reviews of the organization and their events. We were planning on doing their AMP event later this year, but saw that they were doing COTA, and how many chances are we going to get to race the Duff car at COTA?

If we like WRL, then we'll probably do more races with them, mostly because after the last Chump race (August of this year), we've decided that we don't want to race with Chump any more.

I was talking to a guy at the Chump Car race at VIR this weekend who also had good things to say about WRL. Their COTA event is too close date-wise to the 2016 Lemons Barber race, plus it's quite a tow, and the entry fees alone are $2200. That will be one expensive race.

FWIW, I ran with Remchak's team at the VIR Chump race this weekend, and it once again confirmed my reasoning behind keeping my team's car away from that series. Several cars were tore up pretty good on Saturday. They drive euros just like a sprint race. I did the first stint, and after 5 mins I radioed in to say "Today is all about not crashing, nothing else". Fortunately, I was able to avoid any contact, but it took lots of extra effort to do so. Oh, did I mention what the noobs were told in their rookie meeting? "Trading paint, and bumping is totally acceptable". :stick:

We got hit a couple of times, once pretty hard, at the August race. It was all from overly aggressive driving and their management doesn't appear to care about it. Couple that with no more Grand course and starting a 24-hour race on Saturday afternoon so you can have a truck race during the day, and it's too much for us. Robert also raced there with an E30 team out of Atlanta and saw the same thing, lots of contact with no rule enforcement.

I will be driving the RV from Barber to COTA after the LeMons race, and the rest of the team will fly in. Couple that with the THSCC event getting moved to February, and it's going to be a hell of a month.

This is not looking good. Forum chatter indicates that they are leaning heavily toward applicants with prior WRL experience. We also haven't gotten any follow-up about car appearance and driver experience that they say they are asking applicants about.

Being a new series I am quite sure they are giving priority to teams that have run with them in the past. Joey Todd is a bit of a snake so this wouldn't be out of character for him. He will use this event to try to highlight his series superiority over ChumpCar. By signing up teams that have left ChumpCar he will receive free bashing publicity on several forums.

Well, we did leave Chump, but we're not that in to arguing with people on the Internet, so our forum-bashing value is pretty low.

How would one get WRL experience without being allowed to run with them? There rules seem to lean towards experience, but Lemons, ChumpCar, and HPDE count.

I've read they really frown on contact, which has our team interested in running with them at AMP. If they only allow experience in WRL though, I don't see how it can last very long.

If that means he hates John Condren I like him already.

This is merely track related, as I said earlier, Joey is holding spots for teams he knows. I'm guessing the liability at COTA is Camel C**k High and he ain't doing enough business yet to be flush.

We'd Iove to run COTA, but at $2200 just to enter, it's too rich for our blood.

Easily $6K in expenses. Not including consumables.
