Yeah, the RS3's were my "chumpcar experiment" -- I never intended to keep using them, being 195's. (they're more tolerant of my dumb driving, good wet and dry handling, etc. But the cheese grater pavement at CMP is too much for 'em.) They are a softer sidewall, so we may need to "reformulate" our standard air pressures. The rock-hard, million year old RE11A's handled just fine for my Sunday morning run; apparently used none of the mm's of tread that was on them. I was following the gremlin most of that session as a means of pacing (save gas -- 2hrs is near the limit , and tires); and it worked... I was aiming for 2:12's, and averaged ~2:14 and lost nothing doing that. Saturday I was aiming for 2:10 and mostly maintained that (a few 2:08s) with little attention on the Solo.
Charles was there as well in the Shark Bate team. They weren't running well at all. As he lamented, he was passed by Austin Powerless!
This was the first time I've seen Lemons use the Red Flag. We were fueling the car when everything got quiet. Looked up to see the Nash sideways just after the kink, with the driver out and the emergency crews making a beeline for it.
