If you weren’t there, to bad, If you were, you know. It was a great weekend with friends and driving. The attendance was low, with the largest run group, Blue, being 15 drivers. That means that we absolutely got to haul ass and drive. There was almost no traffic control and not a single train all weekend long. The drivers in blue group were at a very consistent level. Because I got to concentrate on how to do it right, this session proved to be the most helpful HPDE that I have attended to date. Many thanks to my instructor Graham H. for being able to weed out my deficits so quickly, correct them, and then talk me into pushing harder and harder as the weekend progressed. You will never be able to teach me right from left, but you surely can teach me how to drive anytime. My previous HPDE got me to appreciate the Z06, this weekend got me to love it.

That said, if anyone has a clue on how to bleed the clutch slave cylinder on a C5 Z06, I would appreciate a few hints. I spent almost all of the weekend in third because of clutch fade due to not being able to figure out how to bleed the system. I hope that this is not a GM penny pinching deal on their most expensive car.

Thanks to all that made this possible. I have never had a better HPDE. For those of you that did not come, don’t come next year and spoil a good thing. CMP is a great track for learning and debugging yourself. See you at VIR Full in September. :D

I've never been under the hood of one, but looks like the slave has a bleed screw on it. (how easy it is to reach???)

Agree with Michael; wonderful weekend. Had a lot of fun on and off track. Those of you who don't make the annual run down to CMP are missing an excellent event.

Thank yourself...we can't do it without the students and instructors, they are the most important part. It was a great weekend though on all accounts. Glad the weather held out and we didn't get any rain. Very good behavior on track. The only real issues we had all weekend was the slow service at the snack bar during lunch and the kids that kept wondering through the paddock on bikes, scooters, and skateboards. I've discussed both of these things with CMP managment. I wish we had a better turn out so we could justify a second event there again.

The good news is, I was told when I paid the invoice that hopefully by the time we go back next year, CMP should be repaved. Hopefully that will cut down on the consumables expense of going there and make the track a bigger draw.

So bummed I couldn't make it - I love that place. Alas, it was graduation weekend for the youngest. With both kids out of the house, I'm hoping next season will mean MAXIMUM TRACK TIME! (If I don't run out of money :( )

If it's anything like the TR-6060 in my Camaro, the Slave is inside the bell housing around the input shaft. The bleeder for it is about 3/4 of the way to the top of the bell housing so you have to get way under the car to reach it and have somebody else pump the pedal.

It's just a solid metal tube coming from the slave to a hole in the housing and it's a typical bleeder screw. Maybe similar, maybe not, I dunno, lol.

I will tell you from the experience on replacing the master on my Z-24, it's not easy to bleed by conventional methods. After fighting it for a while (thinking it was OK for few days, then not) here's what I did on mine. I attached a long piece of tubing from the bleed screw on the slave (slave is also internal on the Z-24) and ran it back to the master cylinder reservoir and clipped it in place. This made one continuous loop by which I could essentially recycle the fluid through the system and letting the air bubble out of the reservoir in the process. I opened the bleed screw and pumped the pedal about 3 times before the firmness came back and all was well. It's been fine ever since.

This is popular on the Camaros for fixing the bleeding issues.

http://www.tickperformance.com/tick-per ... ebird-ls1/

The part is different for 5th gen Camaros, i'm guessing because of T56 vs TR-6060? But looks like the method to bleed and the bleeder location must be pretty similar.

Mike, if your car does not the the bleed extender you will not be able to reach the bleed valve, without major work. did you use the brake pads?? if not when will I get them back????

To quote the old man in the pit from Waterworld, "Oh, thank God." I've been begging them to pave for years. (I'm not forking over the millions it will take to do it, 'tho) If you've ever walked the track, it is literally a cheese grater; so many stones have been pulled out of the pavement. I guess we'll all have to learn new markers... the various tire marks and cracks aren't going to be there anymore. It's a fair trade!

Great weekend with very lite run groups. While I enjoyed having the track to myself, combining the last run groups would have been a welcome addition to get home earlier.

You might notice he said "should" and not "would". VIR talked about repaving for 10 years before they actually did it. I'll believe it when I see it.

Ok Charley, remember how wide the car is. (camera adds a few inches!) 'tho I'd kill a camera on the passenger door, too. (and the driver door, I get very close to those pipes.) I'm a little sad they never put 'em back at T9.

I know how EXACTLY how wide the car is. The door mirrors pass over the pylons. The camera, well, forgot about that.
