I'm looking at what little tire I have left for the mustang and also reading about how rough the surface is and how it takes its toll in tires. How bad is the abuse on tires at CMP on a heavy car? I drove CMP about 4 years ago, so my memory is fuzzy about what I came home with. I'm also on everyone's favorite tire, the ZII's =(

Since a DE session is only about 20 mins, I don't think you'll have the same tire concernss. With a Mustang, brakes will be more of a concern. Without ducting, I went through a set of DTC-60s in one weekend, and I mean down to the backing plates.

Are you running the stock brakes? I switched over to the brembo set up and it's a huge improvement over stock. No braking issues up at VIR last year, plenty of "whoa" coming into turn 1. My concerns are tires. Right now I'm sitting at 1/16" until I hit the wear bars. No money in the budget for tires this year and Jordan and I are co-driving at the autox's, so the mustang is taking twice the beating. With at least 4 more autox and the NCAC, I don't think CMP is going to happen.

Yes, I'm still on the stock brakes. I thought you were just running the larger rotors and caliper from the later model S197?

Keep in mind the event is rain or shine. You while you might make it through the event with 1/16" if it rains you'll have no fun.

I was. Still have that set up, but moved up to the brembo's. Down side to this is I can't run my stock bullitt wheels anymore. Would have to buy spacers. Still, very happy w/ the brembos, looks good filling up the wheel void and braking is very confident.

I'm not sure about the mustang but we had a bit of tire issues in a 280z at Lemons. I wish I could be of more help.
