Yep, that was during the Caution, I radioed in to get somebody to take a photo so we would have evidence of THSCC participation so Remchak didn't get his panties in a wad!

I would love to have a pic of the next lap with Me, Mitch, and the Grim Reaper mixing it up in turn 14. Anybody got that?

2:01.08, not bad. My best was 2:00.09, but I hear new tires are faster than old ones, even in a car with 75+HP less.

The G-meter doesn't lie. We were way down on grip compared to Barber - and even NCCAR back in December.

No doubt Rivals with 14 previous hours on them (Barber) suck. Luckily we had two new ones for our car that we swapped on Saturday afternoon.

... If I could keep up with y'all. It was very nice to see both of you hang back and wait for me to point you by and both fly out of a corner inches away. There are very few teams with whom I would risk such a maneuver. And in a race with only 5 flags for contact, I think everyone was being very cautious and safe.

As for my spin (and wall contact), I'll just say the same thing I said rolling into the penalty box... I hate the Z2's. It's too easy to get them too hot (full speed around the carousel and you'll be paying for it for half a lap) and then they disintegrate. The RE-11a's from barber were much more forgiving of my driving style, but I was already conditioned to baby the shit out of them. It wasn't until I started playing with the bumblebee car that I pushed 'em at all. I eventually gave up and returned to conserving gas, and then she ended up in the tires in front of station 11 following a fantastic tank slapper. (I thought she was going to catch until she ran out of pavement. I'm told that impact broke a single zip-tie.)

Also, Charles Langford was driving in the Shark Bite car.

That would be an interesting picture. I'm just glad that the Grim Reaper avoided hitting me coming out of 14. After braking way to late coming in, it felt like I almost came to a stop in front of him coming out.

I agree. During the test day I was impressed with the amount of grip they had. Almost as good as a RA-1 but they don't cut it for a endurance race. I've had more grip at a Rallycross.

Is this the pass you refer to?

That's the one! I'm sure Mitch will admit that wasn't exactly a smart move and if the Grim Reaper wasn't on their game there would have been contact.

Robert and I both thought that the ZII Star Specs were pretty good. They have a lot more grip than the RE-11A's that we'd been using before. I could be flat from T8 through the kink and not have to track out for T10 with no drama at all, which is not usually the case.

The thing that I did notice was that if you scrub them, then they lose traction and deteriorate quickly. You could see where they were disintegrating when we pitted. I had to change my carousel significantly and be a lot smoother in general, as opposed to tossing the car into a turn sideways and jamming the go-pedal, which I probably shouldn't have been doing anyway, but it was fun and it worked.

Looking at SOB and at two of the winning cars, all of which were on the ZII's, theirs were smooth and looked fine, which tells me that you can successfully drive fast on them for a long time.

Our next race is in August, and I'll be on the other side of the planet, so Ricky will probably pick the tires and prep the car. I wouldn't mind seeing how the Ventus R-S3 does at a race.
