There was a White maybe 2010ish 4.6L Mustang in green group with blue stripes. It was a pretty young guy, I assume maybe a little younger than myself. I have some gopro footage of him after I gave him a point by, we then proceeded to start working on a Corvette.

That's probably the one. I just want to find out if he is from Greenville. This is redneck country out here, when I say I'm going to VIR people all think I'm going to Martinsville to ride around in a cereal bowl. I would like to touch bases with them.

I didn't catch his name unfortunately, looks like the entry list is gone off of MSR, otherwise we might could have narrowed it down from there.

Posting this very late, as work has kept me busy this week. Super thanks to Rich for his Yellow group instruction; I will be connecting on Facebook as I have some specific questions and are really interested in the heel/toe information you alluded to. Also, HUGE thanks to those of you in yellow group who didn't run me and the Marina over, I promise we were pedaling as fast as we could go, and if I missed any point by's please accept my belated apologies!

The Marina driver appeared to be cognizant of the relative slowness of his car and was very good with point-by's when I was out there.

Also, heel-toe downshifting is something that you can practice on public streets without endangering yourself or others. I wouldn't try it in traffic initially, but I heel-toe my downshifts in the minivan simply for the practice.

Hey, everyone. I'm also posting late, but I also wanted to thank everyone in yellow group. (I was in the Alfa 4C)
Arriving with that car it was easy to feel a bit protective of it, but I have to say you all made me feel really comfortable driving on track with you. Thanks for letting me get a proper first workout with my new baby! Hope to see you all again soon. It was awesome!!!

Great to see you out there and using the car properly!

I got this from Stephen Westerfield:

Apparently large tires can clog your fuel pump.

Image

When your big-ass tires rub a hole in your metal fuel filler tube, the tube becomes a cheese grater and the rubber ends up in the tank. Then the car starts sputtering and you miss your last session. :(

I suppose of all the outcomes that isn't the worst. Certainly is a creative one though.

I was looking at last year's VIR-N event lap times for Ricky and me driving the Duff car:

Ricky's best 2014: 2:05.3
Roger's best 2014: 1:55.8

Ricky's best 2015: 1:56.5
Roger's best 2015: 1:54.6

The car was basically the same; the bushings were looser, but the engine was brand new and we had better tires last year. The pavement was new and felt stickier last year, except for the old Patriot course section, but 9 seconds is a huge jump.

At this rate, Ricky will be faster than me by 2016.

Pulled the infamous 4.6L spark plugs on the Mustang Saturday. Apparently the engine doesn't run too well if (3) of the (8) plugs look like this:

The 4.6L isn't a diesel? There's still plenty of meat on those insulators, I don't see an issue here.

Wow, those are ugly.

We used to do that on the Duff car. Dropping a few heat ranges and using a plug with a shortened ground electrode fixed the problem. I run them so cold that they stay pretty dark, but they don't foul under track conditions. Better a fouled plug than new pistons.

Of course those plugs are about $4 for a Honda and I only need 4 of them. Your fix will probably be much more expensive.

I suspect 4.6L plugs should be dirt cheap considering how many of those motors are around.

About $80 for a set.
