Just wanted to share the top-ten things I learned from my first venture into wheel-to-wheel racing.

1 - HOLY COW! This is an absolute blast! I mean it is really, really fun!
2 - 2hrs & 20min is a really long time on your first ever stint - trying to maintain focus while sweating in a 2-layer fire suit.
3 - The Cool-Shirt is the greatest invention ever! I didn't use it Sat and wished I had. Sunday was much more comfortable.
4 - Most drivers were very courteous, giving room and point-bys to faster cars. I really didn't expect this.
5 - Every person I met was very nice and eager to help out others.
6 - Barber is a really fun track with fantastic facilities (except having to walk up the hills in the paddock).
7 - Having a spotter on the radio telling you of flags ahead is a huge help.
8 - You have to figure out how the car will behave entering every corner differently nearly every lap.
9 - It takes a lot of organization, planning, skill and some luck to win one of these.
10 - I can't wait to do it again! See you at CMP in May!

Cash

11 - VK is the man.

Seriously I don't even get a tip of the hat for dragging you into this? Luckily your 1st experience (car worked well all weekend) was a very good one. Unfortunately, they all don't turn out that way.

As for the sweating in your fire suit on a nice 65 degree day, weak sauce man. Wait until you do one of these on a 95 degree day and see how much you sweat, even with a cool shirt.

No pics to share? Here's one of our new ride in action:

First picture I saw of the car, I love the livery.

And yeah, until you're dying to get INTO the car and flip on the cool suit switch you haven't seen anything yet.

Glad you had a good time, Chump/Lemons is a blast.

There aren't many things that feel as good as the pump turning the ice water in a hot ass race car. It's like Calgon* for racing.

*I realize you youngin's probably wont get that reference.

Yes! I have VK to blame - er, thank for this new addiction. Along with the great bunch of guys that let me drive with them.

Cash is new at the intarwebz. Here's a much better action shot of the 580SX.

Here is a picture of me, just before I went into the pits and puked with my helmet on in the car. Yes, true story

5 layer suit with no air moving over it. I was fine as long as the sun wasn't on me. Oddly, fat-man Roger in a black suit was fine. Come CMP in May, you'll need that cool shirt working. Robert kinked his hoses at Sebring last year; after 2hrs, he got out and almost passed out. (we're fueling the car (3 man weekend), look up and he's leaning over the wall.)

The quality of LeMons has improved greatly over the 4 years I've been doing this. I've been blown away by how well everyone is behaving for several races now. I checked the penalty sheet Saturday, and it was almost empty -- most of it spins due to oily spots and people unfamiliar with the track. (despite several hours of iRacing, Charles still ended up way out in the gravel off T1. I kept to pavement -- not necessarily "racing surface", but not dirt!)

Not sure visor up or down would matter much puking in a helmet, especially street motorcycle and automotive helmets.

So, I have to know, why is it a 580SX?

True to Carroll Shelby's formula, it is a light RWD sportscar (Nissan 240SX) with a large Ford V8 (5.8L). So replacing the stock 2.4L with the 5.8L results in a Nissord 580SX.

I thought it might have been something along those lines, but everybody just shoves 5.7L LS1s into cars, so the 580 didn't make sense to me, lol.

FYI, the the winning car at this race was a 3rd gen F-body with an LS-swap.

I have the same problem. I can make it through a DE with only feeling midly off. If I enter a race I get horribly motion sick.

Scopolamine is magic.
