just wanted to drop in and offer some quick (late) feedback from a total track n00b at the April 5-6 VIR-N HPDE weekend. i was the guy in the silver subaru RS.
you guys run a great event. although it was my first track day, i'm not a stranger to being at, and working at the track which i've been doing since 2003 with other organizations. i found that the level of organization and communication was very good. it was easy to sign up, easy to find my things, and easy to understand where i needed to be and when.
everyone was super friendly - i've seen a thread in another part of the forum that made it seem as though THSCC folks aren't the most welcoming, and between this and your rallycross events, i have no idea what the hell that's all about. i could tell all of the THSCC staff running the show were happy to be there and the enthusiasm rubbed off for sure. i was there to have a good time and it was great to look around and see the same attitude on most everyone's face. and you know what? little stuff, like sending a free DVD with some sideline footage of our cars going around, and the staff lining up in the pits and cheering for us as we pulled in from the last session on the last day isn't soon forgotten and just adds to a really great memory.
from an educational standpoint, i went in expecting to be
bored to tears in the classroom and chomping at the bit to get on the track all the time. turns out the classroom sessions were actually really beneficial and enjoyable, and i ended up looking down at my watch to be surprised how fast the time flew in there because i was getting into it. big thanks to my instructor Patrice B. who did a great job getting some critical stuff through my thick head and keeping it fun all weekend long. Thanks for the ridealongs too.
good stuff guys. i'll be passing my experience on to a couple buddies in VA who frequent VIR often, in the hopes that they'll come down and have a great time with you all too.
just a quick segment i got from the last session on Sunday. what a blast.
