What about a Cougar or SVT Contour. The MTX75 isn't that rare.

Yeah, the 3.0L 98-02 Cougar/Contour MTX75 is available, but their gear set and final drive is not much different than mine. The Euro version got the good gears.

I probably have spent enough time and money on this car. I should just roll with it and enjoy. :thumbsup:

I was short shifting some and being quite deliberate about my shifts, because I'm almost out of clutch. I think the bigger issue is gearing. I was hitting higher speeds last time (about 120) running a 24.75" dia tire. This time I'm running a 25.6" dia tire - not helpful. Also, being a frugal family sedan, 4th and 5th are over-drive - again, not helpful.

1st - 3.153
2nd - 1.842
3rd - 1.258
4th - 0.947
5th - 0.733

I was at or near redline in forth at about 108ish. I'd shift to 5th before the kink and would pick up very little speed. Suggestions? I have a set of 16x8 wheels, but they don't fit over my brakes.

And I really like the grip of the 275s on 18x10s.

You might try a MTX75 out of a early twin cam Focus. Its ratios are:
1st - 3.667
2nd - 2.136
3rd - 1.448
4th - 1.028
5th - 0.767
Final 3.820

Yes, the I4 Focus version has attractive ratios, but unfortunately the I4 MTX75 doesn't bolt up to the V6. The V6 MTX75 has a different front case-half with a different bell housing pattern.

I believe so. But its a big job because the input shafts are different. Plus then I'm buying two trannys. Then of course I'll have to buy another LSD. :roll:

Seems like alot of work - I suspect I'll live with what I have for awhile. The car doesn't suck - I need to learn when to stop tinkering.
