Just wanted to say that I had a great time at last night's Kart race! Thanks to introduction of the light/heavy classes, my team - "2 Fast, 1 Furious, and 1 Sick Puppy" - finally trophied - 3rd in "Heavy" (We were 5th overall out of 13 teams. Most teams fell into the "heavy" category, a sad commentary on the state of affairs in America.)

Special credit goes to Bill Gratton, who drove first for us. We drew the 6th starting position, so I told Bill that all he had to do was pass 5 cars on the first lap. I'm not sure if he grabbed the lead on lap 1, but it didn't take him long to get to the front. When his stint ended and he got out of the kart, his pants were soaked with gasoline. He said it really itched. Scott Johnson's kart had the same problem. (Pre-race tip - make sure the fuel cap is secured on your kart's tank.. the tank is located under the steering column, right between your legs)

That was great. Grim Reaper finished second overall and second in the light weight class (with an average of 196lbs, we were the fat skinny kids). About 4 laps into the race I had the left front wheel hub fail and the wheel came off. Tends to hamper the handling with 3 wheels. At least they gave us a lap back for the failure.... Looking forward to the next time.

I need to apologize to whomever was in the 11 kart at in the last 20 minutes of the event. I came into the hairpin and got along side them on the inside. I think they were trying to get track right and while they were moving me right, I started to turn left as I felt like they were trying to run me off the track. :) I had a good time, but Scott and I each running two 30 minute sessions each after a day of HPDE was probably a bit more than we needed. - AB

I'm really glad everyone had fun and the event seemed to be a great success! Working with the VIR Kart Track staff was great and our participants helped by driving well, adding to the already outstanding reputation that THSCC has with VIR.

We will hold another 2 hour enduro of this same format in September during our HPDE weekend.

If we have enough interest, we may also hold a 2 hour, 3 hour, or even 4 hour enduro another weekend this summer, too. Anybody interested? :)

I know we finished last in heavy but it was great fun. It was my kids first "racing" event they did great. Sad that two of my drivers, my daughter and my father in law, got black flagged after getting stuck off course. It is a great learning experience for the both of them.

As for the other events, 2 or even more yes you can count me in!

Sorry to Mrs. Peterson, i know close to the end I held you up a tad but I didnt want to hit that little girl in front of me in the turns, sorry about that.

I am sorry I missed it. I had planned to attend (two man team with my brother), but ended up having a conflict that couldn't be changed. I hope to attend in September.

Well, at least we are not as bad as the F1 boys who are all dieting to try to get down to as low as weight as possible. They are saying that every 10kg (22lbs) is worth about 0.3 second per lap in an F1 car! I think many are shooting for the 130-140lbs range. The guys who are naturally larger are starting to look like gaunt zombies. Some are passing out and getting hospitalized between races.

I say Big Macs for everyone! ;)

Interesting that Scott and I show that we only stopped twice. We definitely stopped 3 times. Regardless, we had a good time. - AB

You mean my clipboard-and-pen technology somehow failed? :)

In all seriousness, we cross-referenced what I had marked down with how many extended lap times were in the timing computer for each team to verify the number of stops, but only for the podium positions. I simply transcribed my clipboard data to my previous post of the results, so I don't doubt that you stopped three times and I missed one.

Zach, I know this was done via MyLaps. What is the event name so that I can look at the lap information? I have a transponder, so I should have access. - AB

I'm not sure if the session was uploaded or not. I seem to remember it said something like "Kart test session" or something very vague on the timing computer. Might want to call the kart track to be sure.
