The inaugural THSCC Kart Enduro is on the books! Sign up early to ensure your team's spot. Same weekend as the VIR-North HPDE event, so you can hop off track and head over and do some karting on Saturday evening. Cost is $150 per team.

The format will be similar (but hopefully better) to the NASA kart enduros some of us have done before. If we get a good turnout, I am open to have more of the events throughout the year. They really are great fun and the team dynamic makes for some very interesting racing.

What is the purpose of the neck collars?

They are required by the VIR kart track.

Because cervical spine injuries suck.

Do the neck warmers actually do anything? Especially in a wreck that can cause c-spine issues.

They draw out the litigation.

Note: Haven't even gone on Motorsports reg to look.

If you are doing the team thing, remit payment at VIR, one person pays online and registers the team, how is that working?

Gast, my brother and I are very interested

I will ask the same question that Steven asked in the other thread on this topic...

"Cost? Minimum # of drivers? Weight-based classing?"

I am curious, but want more details.

The neck collars that VIR has (last time I checked) feature worn out velcro straps, so they just pop off my fat neck as soon as I put them on. For the last NASA event I dug out my old HPDE Simpson collar and wore that. Of course, it doesn't have the little wedge in the back, so maybe I need to go invest $35 in one of my own.

This is a lot of fun, even though my all over-50 team finished near the back last time. Perhaps the 5 minutes/7 laps I spent cooling my jets in the pits after being black flagged had something to do with that.

I did learn that if somebody blocks you 12 times in a row, then spins in front of you in the off-camber hairpin, forcing you off/airborne into the dirt, that you should remember his kart number. Perhaps if I had been able to provide the offender's kart number when the track employee asked me, I may have received some forgiveness. At any rate, as soon as I got back on track, I ended up behind the same guy, and after a while the same thing happened again. This time he got the black flag.

I signed up this morning and I know another did. This will likely fill up soon. Any plans to show the sign up sheet? Also, is there an minimum number of drivers? Obviously, you could easily do this with 2 drivers. - AB

I think a soft foam collar is BS in the energy levels that will cause an injury.

Same here. Thus the reason why I wear my Simpson Hybrid Pro Rage, even when at Mooresville Motorplex. If I'm going to be forced to wear a device to save my neck, it's going to be one that works. - AB

Cost is $150 per team. Preregistration is highly recommended, however if there are spots available we will allow walk-ups the day of. Note, however, with only 12 team spots, I predict them to fill up well in advance.

Art, I remember hearing about what happened to you at the last NASA enduro. I hope to provide a little better stewardship at our events, and assign penalties as appropriate. I will not be driving this first event, but acting as steward, and I'd like to get another volunteer or two to officiate as well.

Is the registration fee going to be charged up front or like the autox was, where it was charged when registration closed?
