Will there be another event at CMP in October or are we only doing 3 events this year? I know it's still early January, but . . . :D

Thanks,
Cash

It's looking like just June at CMP unfortunately. We have lost money on every CMP event we've done in the last 2 years, so it just didn't make sense. If we see better attendance in June this year, we could consider adding it back next year.

Thanks, Stephen.

Last October was my first time there and I was very surprised how few folks were still there on Sunday. I had one session where I think I ran 10 laps and didn't see another car. Let's hope attendance improves.

Thanks

Yeah, that's a shame too as it's a very fun track to drive. I've grown to enjoy driving the turn 3-7 complex at CMP just as much as 14-17 on VIR-F.

It looks like I'll be missing our April event at VIR due to travel. :( I don't want to wait until our June event to get back on the track, so I was looking at the TrackDaze schedule - their first event isn't until May. I came across an AsphaltVentures event at NCCAR on March24. I know Stacey is on the forum occasionally. I've never run at NCCAR or with AV - any thoughts? Anyone else thinking about it?

Thanks,
Cash

Stacy's events are well run, I've never driven NCCAR either so can't speak for that aspect.

Tarheel BMW will be at VIR early in the year if it hasn't sold out already.

NCCAR is really an automotive test track. after one or two sessions it becomes rather boring, but that's just my opinion. For an early season warm up I guess it's O.K. lots of big constant radius turns.

That opinion is shared by many, including myself. I describe it as an on-ramp, onto and off-ramp, onto an on-ramp, linked by a straight, rinse and repeat.

It would make an excellent track for D1 though.

Thanks for the feedback, guys. The BMW event in Feb is a bit early for me - I don't think I'll be quite ready. I still think NCCAR might be fun to do - at least once. :D I see NASA has an event the same weekend at VIR-Full (Mar 22-24). I'm leaning toward that. Hoping to do six HPDEs this year - we'll see.

A few years back I did 12 HPDEs, 8 autocrosses, and 6 rallycrosses in one year. After complaints from the boss I had to dial it back. :(

In 2002 I did 28 autocross weekends in a year, which includes 8 National events... I'm sure it was hard to figure out that I wasn't married at the time :) - AB

I agree. NCCAR is nothing like any race track you've been on. All turns are constant radius. This doesn't sound nearly as bad as it drives. Some turns seem like they will never end and surely must feel that way to your outside front tire. It's really too bad it was designed in such a fashion, but as Bernie notes, they had other objectives in mind as opposed to a fun race track like design (although the Nürburgring comes to mind as something many auto manufacturers use, and it is anything but constant radius turns, lol).

You can go up there during the week (call Simon to set up a date/time when track is free) and pay for 1hr of track time to sample it.

OK, as the owner of a non-street-legal car that needs a shake down, does anyone know what the going rate for 1 hour of track time is at NCCAR?
