Checking the T&S from CMP this weekend, looks like the Magnum guys had a good showing, but what about the rest of you guys??

Maybe post up your team name and or car number so we know who's who ???

Also saw that Kendt spent some time in the ER in Camden this weekend (some sort of bug, NOT a race/track injury)- hope you're feeling better dude!!!

23, car was fast and ran well until it broke, pretty much the same as our usual showing. Our transponder died, costing us a bit over 20 minutes, and our clutch master cylinder died on Sunday afternoon, which basically eliminated us from the competition.

Grumpy Old Men were solidly in eighth place as of 10:58 am Sunday morning when the clutch exploded. The three hours it took to change the clutch and chisel out the pilot bearing cost us 30 places. But our anchor drivers for Sunday (Bill Foster and Randy Pobst) brought us back to 33rd. Randy set the fastest lap time of 147.3 in the GOM Trans Am.(Martyn Wheerlers old autocross car)

Yeah Bernie, I saw "Grumpy Old Men and a Nurse" on the live T&S data, wasn't sure if that was you guys or not. I also saw that fast lap of 1:47 and thought DAMN!!!!!!!!

I know Pobst can drive.

Didn't you guys do the clutch during the 24H last year at VIR? Did it fail the same way or was it new and exciting this time?

The clutch issue is exactly the same as last year. For some unknown reason it wants to disinegrate under race conditions it's failed this way three times. And the failures are colossal, it shreds them like tissue paper.
Although Randy's driving is spectacular, his personality and humble demeanor belie his stature in the racing community. He's one of the nicest people I've ever met.
Our drivers were averaging about 1:57 laps in the dry, So he was about ten seconds faster forthe 2 mile track

drove with Speedy Cop, car 115 '67 Galaxie.

finished 75th, car was only on track for maybe 4.5 - 5 hours. had it not been for Randy Melton stopping by our paddock area the amount of time the car ran might have been much less. i did get about 2.5 hours of track time, but everyone else got hosed.

i ran a high 2:11 in the car. the car had no brakes to speak of, and exiting any of the slow turns caused the car to completely bog to the point of nearly stalling. the car easily has a 2:06 in it, probably more with someone faster than me in it.

i can now say i raced with the SpeedyCop franchise. if i had slept at the track i think the experience would have been more memorable, but i don't camp on the ground in the rain.

Team Magnum, PU ended with another solid 5th place finish. Not a win, but our car just isn't as fast as those that finish ahead of us, drivers be damned. Unless they broke we did about as good as we could do.

Congrats to Mark Barnes and his Grim Reaper guys on thier Class 'B' win! Great job guys!

Picture of my hosing. When Steve came in for my stint we discovered the Axles were leaking on both sides. Steve had gotten wacked in the carousel and made a great save which is the reason for the damage. I did get in a good 30 minute session on Saturday. Car had a big stumble and no brakes to speak of but actually handled really well. It was a blast coming inside miata's and taking them in a turn. Kink was awesome just I needed a pretty clear space ahead to make sure I could get it slowed down afterwards.

YEAH the speedy cop crew is fun. He is a nice guy, having his guys work for two hours to get me out in a spare car they had brought (didn't make it). If they become a reality series I can say I knew them when.

The #13 Grim Reaper Racing V-6 Mustang finished 10th overall and 1st in the "B" class. We beat out the 2nd place "B" car by 8.4 seconds. Fast lap was 2:05. One penalty for a driver crashing/spinning himself. Also ran out of fuel 100 feet from pit entrance trying to cut Sunday down to one pit stop. These two goofs made it a close race. Also, radio system quit working saturday about noon. A new one is on order for VIR in a few weeks.

$500 in nickels and a cool trophy was the reward.

Congrats to Magnum and the other Tarheel teams.

A bunch of pictures from the race.

I was out there trying to beat Grim Reaper and you guys were really moving on Sunday. That was some good driving and you definitely earned the win.

Thanks. We had times where we had to slow down to conserve fuel. I had to do some fuel savings on Sat and Sunday to make it. It was sputtering in the corners the last few laps of the race....
