Thanks, that helped me not be so envious!

not to bag on kevin's considerable efforts and accomplishments, but you could also spend one third that amount for a spec e30, and have three times as many cars to race against. you can still be envious cline!

Cline is your middle name "quandary"?

you have a NASA / CCA legal race car in your garage. you could go racing next month if you'd just quit being so non-committal.

your problem is that you are afraid you might actually enjoy it so much that you would have to spend time and money on a regular basis.

uh, duh.

The only problems Cline has are all female...three of them. :-P

Steve I really hate to disagree with you. That is NOT a race car, that is a "advertisement" device!!! It would be hard to justify it when a sideswipe by a competitor takes out part of the vinyl.

Jeremy is right. That particular car has spent more time sitting at Cline's place than it's ever spent on a race track, so basically it's like a static billboard, but with wheels.

Who did you guys pick on before I got in this club?

Seriously, I have too many things that I love to do. Racing is more prep time and money than my ADHD Jewish self can currently handle. Golfing, takes no time out the door and there I go, lots of drinking afterwards good times. Motorcycling change the oil once a year (in the bike world BMW's are the opposite of the car world, change the oil and put in gas and go) head for the mountains or coast if you are happy with the weather the next couple of days.

I got problems, I tell you, problems.

grandpa, tell us that story again!

"well it was the season finale, 31 cars on grid. a couple of cars broke in qualifying but we all pitched in and got them running by race time. we were three wide going into turn 1, there was some paint traded but we all came out of it in one piece. entered the esses side by side with another guy but i held my line, he put two in the dirt and spun out behind me, all i could see was a huge dustcloud in my rearview mirror. lots of bump drafting on the back straight, between that and some seriously dicey trail braking i was able to make a pass on my fiercest competitor stick in 14, but he pulled an over under and we swapped positions four more time until the end. fortunately i timed my final corner just right and drafted around him to take the win by half a foot at the checker flag. steak dinner and bourbon that night never tasted so good!"

or

"i went golfing again, don't remember when or where as it all kind of runs together. one guy ran out of tees so we had to make an emergency stop in the clubhouse to get more, that was a close call. on the first hole we all sliced into the rough, and i nearly hit the wrong ball! boy was my face red, that could have been a real disaster. on the back nine i caught one of the other guys entering a 4 on his scorecard when he clearly hit 5 so i had him DQ'd. last hole, i'm tied with another guy and he hits a triple bogey! fortunately i only hit a double bogey and beat him by one stroke. grilled cheese and ginger ale at the club afterwards, mmm mmm!"

which one do you want to tell?

Me too... Our chumpcar build is about 10% of that... Awesome BUILD pictures Kevin!!! Let me know when you want to look at some aero stuff. Know a think or two about the Vette's...

Also, mentioned earlier, Alvin @ PCM does an incredible job and knows his stuff. To this day, my old Miata was the lowest HP car he has ever pulled in his shop. :)

Excellent post, Jason. I will be quoting that for years!

Scott,

Thanks. I may take you up on that offer. I have a certain ex-NASCAR piece of wavy carbon fiber here in the garage and a sheet of Alumalite just begging to be installed on both ends of the Vette.
