Any THSCC'ers doing the Chump event this weekend at Charlotte?

I'll be heading down to watch some of the action.

I think most of THSCC based teams are doing Lemons at CMP in May and then Chump at VIR in July.

Remchak rented a seat for the team that runs the "Enterprise" LTD, the "Sanford and Son" truck, and two other cars. He'll probably be in several of those vehicles.

What he said. I hear it's easy peasy and only cost $500 to get started.

I detect a touch of irony in that statement.

Thinking about it! I figured this latest round of weather might open up the options for potential starter cars....

yes, i am a guest driver for a rather wide open team out of Charlotte. our own Kevin Harvey is a member of this team and i am looking forward to the experience.

sheet-ton of concrete, i'd be lying if i didn't say i was a might bit apprehensive........

but hey, my first two DEs were at Rockingham with THSCC so i should be able to channel some of that old energy. 8)

As Steve stated, I'll be there taming the "Beast of the Southeast".

Heck, I'll be helping set up the track tomorrow afternoon if anyone wants to stop by early.

How did everything end up?! Enjoyed seeing all the cars and watching the first few hours of the race.

nice meeting you Scott, thanks for coming out to hang with us. i think the consensus is that T&S was FUBAR'd for this event. so be it, it is what it is.

on a personal note, i have never driven such a collection of V8 powered vehicles with just absolute neutral handling built in. i might need to re-think that E36 thing. 8)

So, the team is starting to take shape and we are looking for a car... Looking at Hondas as it seems like the most logical approach.

I have found a few 5th,6th gen civics without motors. From everything I have read so far, swaps are pretty easy.

Someone with some Honda exp think this is a bad idea?

AIV? a car without a motor doesn't translate to a value that is acceptable to CCWS if i have read the rules to the letter. which of course i haven't.

good luck on the build, but remember to document what you do and of course also remember to try to prove what you did is legal. keep in mind this series doesn't have rules so much as it has levels of tolerance.

Don't buy a car without a motor, unless you plan to cheat, and if you do, shame on you. You won't be able to recover a motor in the budget. And you'll get scrutinized HARD if you show up with an obviously non-stock swapped motor, "what else did you do while it was out???".

It's simple: Buy a running car with PGM-FI, double wishbones, and a running motor. That puts you into the top-25% capable territory. Bonus points if it does not have a D-series engine which I hear are fragile :) Options are limited, but PU and Integrenader #2 have done it. Takes a LOT of time surfing craigslist to find an idiot seller.

Edit: Get a Protege.
