We spent half of day 1 in the garage with minor problems, exhaust cracked in multiple places, PCV system decided that the motor needed some extra oil in the intake manifold, just annoying stuff. Oil temps were also high, so we would do a couple of easy laps in 3rd gear any time it got up to 250 to cool it down. On day two we were out there pretty consistently except for our shotgun wedding penalty and when the exhaust cracked off again. I finished it up open header, having fun battling with the E30 with an octopus on the roof. We both ended up going 2-off trying to be first under the checker.

This was probably the best that the motor has ever run, we got 2.5 hours out of a tank of gas and it performed consistently all weekend. We broke in a complete rookie driver and a desert rally driver and they both did well. I'm looking forward to the next race.

pity we didn't have a camera mount or i'd have great footage of magnum's seven or eight degrees of LF camber (although i do wish we could have borrowed a little of it).

As it turns out we really shoudn't have ignored the wheel bearing, but we were in the top 5 and didn't want to come into the pits to fix what we thought it "might" be. We didn't have the part at the time anyway so we stayed out there and ran another 7 hours  on it.

It was a lot of fun to crew for Magnum. Sucks that it ended the way it did.

It was a tough weekend for everybody. The Grim Reaper worked our way up to 5th on Saturday when the fuel decided to pour out of the tank and get us black flagged. Only thing we could do was let it set for 1 1/2 hours then go back out. On Sunday, Same thing happened again late in the afternoon. Another 1 hour break then we went out and finished the race in 22nd. Looks like a major change for the fuel system is in order before VIR in July.

Wow, the reaper with a 3+ hour fuel cell. Can we hook up a tow rope to you? :D

We are just going with a 15 gal cell (2+ hours) since our attention span is only 1 hour. Don't want to push our luck to much.
