Just bought a set of Kosei K1 TS wheels for the Miata. I know as a general rule that all trim caps/rings/etc. should be removed from the wheels so they don't fly off in a turn or at speed. The center caps on the K1 TS wheels are a bit different in that they are actually removed from the *inside* of the wheel and would first require removal of the Miata hub adapter ring too. So the net effect it that the center caps are unlikely to be going anywhere.
But the real question is - will they pass tech?

Usually if the center cap is secured (ie, mounted on the inside, screwed on, mounting plates) they can remain on.

Personally I would be more concerned that if they are plastic, they could melt. We've seen Z06's do that.

Regarding melting parts, when I bought my regular Kosei wheels from Tirerack a few years ago, the default was to provide plastic hub adapters. But they did mention that they also have metal ones as the plastic can melt if you use the car/wheels for motorsports applications. I ended up with both types as the plastic were free and I payed a little extra (I think) for the metal ones.
