Magnum, PU has signed up, but we have an understanding (with the organizers)we aren't paying any fees until after the next Lemons event at CMP in May. We can't afford that cash outlay not knowing the fate of our car after the May event.

Walter, I'm sure I've got one, but I'm having trouble visualizing what part it is..... Is it the junction block on the firewall that has the battery cable connection and then a small connector below (above?) that? If that's not it, can you post a pic or a description of exactly what it looks like???

yes that is the part, i'm not sure how this happened but it has been fixed and we do not need to replace anything. replacing it would just be another thing to fail at the next race.

Hmm, sounds like maybe something came loose, because there's not much high-tech about that thing. It's just a bracket for the large battery cable, to hold it to the firewall, and then that 1 stud is just used as a connector for the 2 smaller gauge wires- there's nothing going on underneath.

Regardless, glad you got it working, and you're 100% right that you do NOT need to replace it now that it's working- or risk the wrath of the crapcan racing gremlins....

Hey, my first ever session and I asked you to let me know when I let lose tire smoke. There were obvious times when I knew for sure, but when you got tired of telling me I just assumed that I'd figured it out on the other laps. Besides, that could be tranny oil splashing on the exhaust in turn 12  , there was enough of that pouring out

and yet we still received four penalty laps! how does an e30 that previously won the race get zero while our car, which has blown up three engines in two races, get penalized?

that particular area has been an issue with that car since 2008. it stalled (dead) several times during its maiden autocross run at Sanford and Bernie traced the issue to that connection. i say cut a big hole in the firewall and replace the whole damn shiebang.

Road Warriors and the Rbankracing Sabb that lead most of the race were both previous winners that I think also got no penalties this time.

As an elementary school child Jay was picked on by the kids with better toys, understood math, more athletic skills, and fathers who still had their hair. Lemons is payback for him

I'm an idea man Chuck, I get ideas, sometimes I get so many ideas that I can't even fight them off!

What if you mix the mayonnaise in the can, WITH the tunafish? Or... hold it! Chuck! I got it! Take LIVE tuna fish, and FEED 'em mayonnaise! Oh this is great.

so Walter who did you end up buying dinner for since i didn wreck the car? i hope it was a steak dinner because i didnt even have a close call.

the problem with our car was the power block at the front passenger side of the firewall the lug that feeds the main power relay lost power in the middle of T14 with Cline driving. idk what happened that made the lug loose power but i moved the wire to another lug and we were ready for the next day.

To be fair I should buy you dinner! You were fast and didn't wreck. I won't speak to the condition of the tires, but you drove great. Several drivers stopped by to comment on how fast you were.

To add to Sean's diagnosis. The failure was inside the power block. Everything look good from the outside and the wire was connected properly. Something inside the power block broke. Some of the lugs had power. Do you have one of those Bret?

In Steve's defense we did think it was the coil at first. We actually found the problem by accident when Sean was checking continuity for the 100th time.

Yes, that part. It is weird that just one terminal would lose power. Can I get it at the Rallycross? I don't want to replace it, but would like to have a spare just in case we have another problem. When we first started doing Lemons we brought a ton of extra parts, even a spare engine. We have slacked off and that was a mistake.

We do let Steve near tool boxes. He has Dave inside one. We don't let him near the car with tools! We are happy to let him get behind the wheel as long as he promises to shift when the big yellow light comes on and come in when the smaller red or yellow lights come on. Asking him to check the gauges didn't work, so we added water temp and oil pressure warning lights along with a shift light.
