Unfortunately... this event has been canceled.

A lack of entries has forced us to cut our losses and focus on the remaining events of the season.

With our 1st event of 2011, we are continuing with our "higher education" of track events theme...

March 5th & 6th enrollment for the NCCAR Spring Semester is now open!!

We are offering "courses" for beginners, intermediates, and advanced drivers. The advanced driving clinic for this event is a TWO DAY course. Of the feedback we got from our previous clinics, this was the most prominent, that people wanted MORE... so ya got it!!

Chuck Hawks will of course be leading the advanced driver clinic. For the beginner and intermediate clinics, we are welcoming Ronn Hale to Asphalt Ventures for the first time. You may be familiar with Ronn from NASA Southeast classrooms, Sandlapper BMWCCA, as well as BMW Street Survival schools.

With Chuck's assistance and guidance, Ronn's curriculum for our event will enlighten and engage all in attendance and we're excited to bring a new face into the fold.

Beginners clinic is 3 hours & 40 minutes of track time
Intermediate clinic is over 4 hours of track time
Advanced driver clinic is 4 hours, 40 minutes of track time
Instructors and solo attendees also get over 4 hours of track time

Hey Stacy,

Will we be running Counter clockwise per the website? Turn 1 at the bottom of the pic above?
I've been looking at some in car video and want to make sure I'm looking at the right ones.

Thanks!

Frank

Frank... that's the plan right now for this event... I've been told they have made some additional safety enhancements, but I'm not certain exactly what they are. I'm hoping the timing loop crew might be able to scope them out this weekend.

Sorry to see this got cancelled. I was trying to figure some why to bribe, borrow, or steal to get to it.

Hey... this is my first post on the new software... pretty kewl!

Yeah, I hate to cancel it, but I can't rely on last-minute sign ups either.

I take the blame for not having my shit together early enough to do the event justice... which is what we're going to be working on for the rest of our events this year.

Stacy,

What is a realistic amount of time you need people to sign up to be comfortable? Realistic, not wishful.

I'm interested in your late Sept event, advanced clinic. Btw, running both directions was an added plus to me.

I'm horrible at procrastinating this stuff. Heck I haven't even started on the maint on my car to get ready... By the same token I don't want to register, and pay for an event 6 months ahead of time. Every group I know of bills your CC as soon as you sign up, except some of the PCA groups. I guess the cheap bastage in me hates pre-billing like that.

Also I'm not entirely clear on your requirements for the schools if you have track time but never took your schools. I think your offering is interesting and would like to try one.

Graham

Good questions Graham...

I think it's not unrealistic to have people sign up no later than 4 weeks from the date of the event... I'd at least like to have 80% of attendees signed up by that point. And I was nowhere near that number for this event. (Like I said, I take much of the blame for this) since we really only opened registration in January. Plus, these new tracks popping up where no one really has a relationship with them yet, they are now starting to want the bulk of the rental fees well before the event weekend (and I'm talking months, not weeks.)

Would it help if you knew that I DON'T charge credit cards immediately? One of the benefits of being a premium account holder with MotorsportReg is I can defer credit card payments and charge them at a later date. I have also been known to offer early registration discounts, but honestly, they don't seem to do much good.

And we're constantly trying to clarify our message and our goals and our requirements. Often, it depends on the facility as to what we can offer. Right now, NCCAR is the only facility where we can offer driving in both directions for example. As far as requirements, I'm pretty consistent with THSCC and others when it comes to grouping DE students. When it comes to Chuck's clinics, it's a little different. If I don't know a driver, I'll ask for solo qualifications and/or previous instructor references. The clinics are somewhat structured, even though there is no in-car instruction. So one doesn't necessarily NEED solo/open lapping experience. In fact, the clinics are an excellent primer for open lapping/open passing as many of the exercises involve traffic management, offline driving, etc. etc. If you're familiar at all with BMWCCA novice race schools, you'll find some familiar things at our events.
