the problem (for you) is that cmc isn't well represented in nasa-se. there are currently two cmc cars signed up for the next race, three in cmc2. meanwhile we'll have at least 20 spec e30 entrants, maybe 25.
I will be coming down to CMP for the SE race. If you look at the Nationals results and the regional results, there is no clear platform that has an advantage.
The Mid-Atlantic has been Mustang territory. And there is history to why. Actually this past weekend, Chevys took 4 of the top-5 spots and that has never happened before. California and Texas regions are a good mix. The Mid-West region and Rocky Mountain regions are more Camaros/Firebirds.
There is a good reason why CMC is light down in the southeast. And there have been discussions to try and fix it that have fallen on deaf ears. Simply put the CMC director down there is also the AI director. Nice guy but knows little about CMC and directs all comers to AI. Open your wallet wide for that class.
I have nothing against Spec E30 or spec Miata. Man, if that is cup of tea go at it. But I love CMC because it is based upon the old Trans-Am days. A mixture of cars, showroom appearance, fair rules and low cost. I like the sound and feel of V8's. Yes, it get me off
Plus the crowds love it too. At Hyperfest and VIR (for whatever reason, the there were a lot of spectators this past weekend) the crowds are into it when Thunder comes rolling around.
