Kevin,

That was a blast! I'll have to sort throught the video footage from the weekend. I think the camera was on for most of that last session. Good times as always. I think that last session were were able to learn a little from each other as our times were both almost a full second faster than Sunday.

Looking forward to CMP!!!

Scott

I had a great time this past weekend! Roy was a great instructor!

I'll second Scott's comment, I am looking forward to CMP in June (well, maybe not the heat)!

Dude! I was thinking we turned low 1:51's. I just realized we turned low 1:50's. That puts us...what, 2 seconds off the Spec Miata record for VIR North?

I guess the heat was starting to get to me after Sunday's TT.

Well... Not that close... Last Nasa race in 2008 had the top car turning 1.48's but the lap record is a 1.46.8. Wow....

Then again... Fresh motor, great tires, draft, lighter car....

I know I can work harder to find another second with what I have. I think a traqmate is needed for me to break through to the next level...

Dang it, I'm already ready for the next event!! Too bad it is 2 months away...

Hopefully you can get your car figured out. I just did a fresh head gasket because it was leaking water at the back of the head/block. The OCD in me couldn't stand to have a leak and I am glad I did it as it was definately in bad shape.

http://www.nasaracing.net/track_records.htm but it doesn't look like they're necessarily up to date as i see nothing after 2007.

interesting that on north course the SM record is faster than se30, usually it's the other way around by a second or two.

Some of those SM track records are VERY likely 1.8L cars that were being run with no restrictor plate and simply weren't caught. I mean when Todd Buras is already a full second or more faster than the field in practice, who questions a qualifying run that's another second and a half faster? But the fact that it's taken YEARS to approach that speed again once people started policing that shit should be telling...

AND...
Your Club finished the event in the Black!! :)

Some of the preceeds will be used to buy a Projector for use in the Classroom sessions.

All in all, a fun, SAFE event, with minimal serious offs (Jonathan's and Morris M.'s vulcanized excursions notwithstanding :))

Glad everyone had a good time. See you at CMP!!

Ask Chuck Hawks. Every time Chuck got in the car with someone this weekend, they ran off the track. LOL, just kidding, sorta...

Short story is he slid in T17/17A, the car pitched back at the last second, his right rear quarter hit the armco, which caused his front end to come back around and slap the entire right side against the tire wall.

The car is driveable, he continued running it both days. It will need everything on the right side including both bumper covers.
