Aaron - if you need help drilling holes in your tires, I'm available... I can even bring a cordless drill to events, if needed!

:D

Such a nice offer, but I'll pass. The drilling is due to the wheels being 'blanks' that can be drilled to any hub size/bolt pattern desired. They are pretty light too at 16# for a 17x7.5".

I was a little worried about the clearance of the big tire combo, but after looking in the Wheel & Tire Forum on www.newcelica.org, I could comfortably run 18's with the lowering I'm doing. :) Do you guys have a suggestion for a shop that chrome these mothers? I want to see if I can add another 3# or so onto them ;)

My hope is that with that much more contact patch, all of the power may make it to the groiund now, instead of burning up into a fine blue smoke. - AB

What kind of wheels are these? Sounds pretty good, hope the tiresmoke goes away.

The Rota Subzeroes I used last year were 17X7.5, 17 lbs each. I think I'm going to try to pick up something used (meaning semi-cheap), lightweight and 16X7.5 this year.

Kevin - if you find a wheel like that, let me know. I need some wheels for those 245/45/16 super hankook 712s that are coming soon

I think the Hankook he's talking about is the z212. As for my wheels, they're Kosei K1's. - AB

Is the Tire Rack doing the drilling for you? They quoted me an obscene amount of money to custom drill a set for me.

We get custom drilled K-1's from them on a regular basis. Very reasonable I think, 15x8's were less then $200 per wheel.

The price was not obscene. Fortunately from my connection at TireRack, I got mine for sub $200 for the 17x7.5's. :) - AB

Somebody's running a Carbon Blue Celica GT-S in STS and his wife's using the same car in DS at Laurinburg. Hmmm, somebody's looking to play ...

STS index: 0.791
DS index: 0.794

Since I'm running Pro class, it's kind of dumb to run with the DS index when I'm in a STS legal car.

Sweet. Good to have the competition. :D

So, Peter and I swapped clutches & flywheels today (and we didn't break anything!!! Woohoo!). Stock Subaru flywheels suck big time. But the 10ft cricket in the release bearing is gone, and I'm 99.9% STS legal. All that's left is replacing the STi clutch hose with an OE hose and reinstalling a couple of brackets that weren't need with the STi hose.

Now for the not-so-good... Here's a picture of what came out of my tranny when I changed the oil today:

http://home.att.net/~kevinmallen/tranny_chunks.jpg

I'm guessing that's what was jammed up in something when I got stuck in 4th gear at VIR. It's working fine, though, so until I have a Hoppe moment, I'm going to keep abusing it. I need to find a sponsor pretty quick...

:(
