I think it can be said that Brice and Maria are noobs no more in chairing THSCC events. Welcome to the upcoming 2010 schedule!

I really had a ball at the event today. The course was fast and fun, even for my little car. I really liked the downhill side from the gate, through the 3 cone slalom, the shoot and into the 1st of the two boxes.

Thanks again for a great course and a fun day. Let me say again, I really like the all at once format. Hope this will get everyone excited about the upcoming NCAC. We need a great turnout to get our cup back!

Brice and Maria did one hell of a great job. They were troopers on Saturday, setting up today's course in the pouring rain. They were even smiling.

Fun times today for sure. As always, it was fun to watch my brethren in AS cars go faster and faster and faster.

More later...shower now.

Hats off to Brice and Maria. Good course, pretty low cone counts and great weather.

definitely wouldn't have happened without some great help from Karl and Rodney. It was definitely a new experience, and one I enjoyed. The positive feedback made my day (my driving performance certainly didn't).

Thanks Maria and Brice. I think the course was more difficult than many of the courses we've had at Danville. The sweeper from the taxiway to the runway was especially trying. Even after I figured out how to make my car rotate .. some.. exiting the crossover, having it drift sideways endlessly after it rotated played havoc with the ideal line I was carrying around in my head. Of course, if I wanted it to be easy, I'd drive an STi ... On the bright side, in my fun runs I finally got a handle on that right hook/left hook element near the end.

I'd also like to thank everybody for "shaming" me into buying a leftover Jimmy V T-shirt at the last club meeting. In fact, I was ready to buy one at the July and August meetings, but they were left in the trailer.. hence my remark. Anyway, I'm sure it was worth .2 sec today :D

Thanks again for a great job by Brice and Maria, with excellent VP support. I know it sucked to set up in the rain, but you have toknow how much we appreciate your efforts in making this event a success.

I had a great time with the fast course (even if my times didn't show it), but at least I broke into the 54s in the Fun Runs, so I'll hang onto that as a moral victory. Maybe I can put it all together in October and close out the season strong.

Thanks again!

Here's something I forgot to mention for much of today, that I'd like to emphasize here: thank you all for helping make today work so well. We threw a lot of "different" stuff at you today. Three run groups. All at once format. Totally different grid system. Everyone did great, drivers and workers alike.

I, too, found today's course challenging. I particularly liked that how well I drove element "A" had a profound effect on element "B" throughout most of the course. In particular:

- The Chicago box into the "wiggly thing"
- The return chute leading into the final two L-shaped gates

If I tore ass through the first element of those pairs, getting the second element right was difficult, sometimes impossible. Of course, every autocross course is like this to a certain degree, but I found today's course really brought this notion to light.

Hear hear! Job well done. I think by the comments, everyone liked the course. Nice setup for Danville. Brice and Maria have a set a great benchmark.

As for today, much better weather, cool conditions and a fun course. Congrats to Art for beating up on us FS'ers. I had nothing to bring to the table today.

Also thanks to everyone for making today a great event, 5 counted runs and fun runs and out by 5ish. Can't ask for anything better.

Sorry for the off topic...Was that a function of the run group + All At Once format, or the 93 drivers (instead of the usual 110+) If it's driver count, how significant is the $ impact for capping entry at 93 or 96 instead of 120? Personally I like 5 runs plus funs and early exit, but not at the expense of financial strain

I'm not advocating a change, just asking the question...thanks!

It's all of those things, plus a whole lot more, that determine how many runs we get and how long we stay at the site. There are lots of variables involved. Just for a start, each site and each course is different, and both present their own challenges.

EDIT: Just to give you an idea how much this stuff changes from one event to the next...we didn't make the decision on number of runs until partially through the first heat.

it was a great day. The course was AWESOME. I ran grid the for the first run group, after everyone got the understanding it flowed alot better to me than working the other style grid.!!!!

Thank Brice and Maria for setting up a great course!!!

I think a huge help was that I was able to send cars off every ~25 seconds or so due to how the overlap was set up along with the very low cone counts on the taxiway. There were even times with 3 cars on course where one was starting as the other was coming down the back. Pretty impressive for a 50-55s course.

The weather and course on Sunday was awesome. I really had a blast and loved the way the course was set up. I'm not sure how the 3 group AAO format will work when we have 110-120 people but for events this size I think it really helped the event flow well without making people stand in the sun forever.

the 3 groups thing was based on the # preregistered being only ~85. With 6 work stations and so few people, we thought we might be short on people with 4 run groups. 12 workers+start+grid*4=56 workers. You figure timing and scoring, WC's, gate workers, tech, etc. and you're starting to run out of people to work pretty quick. We had a large amount of not pre-registered people show up to fill things out, but the working decision had to be made early on before we knew that to be the case.

Off topic, but not quite thread-worthy.....

I just checked the event results page and got a 404-not found error for the Danville event. I'm no IT guy, but does anyone know what may be the culprit?

Thanks.

They're not there maybe  ?

Typically one of the Fishers (Emmie or Carl) will post when the results have been uploaded.

Back OT - excellent event. I really liked the course too - still gotta find more time, but I'm really glad we got that 5th run in.
