Hope everyone from THSCC going to Nationals has a great time. It'll be the first one I've missed since 2003.

That sucks Donnie. I missed my first since 2002 last year and it's become a trend. Last year I had a good excuse with getting married. This year it's basically due to being non-competitive. I think the C6 needs some different shock tuning to be more consistent and I don't feel like towing out there 22 hours to finish mid-pack. I guess if Bryan were going it would be different, but a trip to Australia kills that.

Next year we will likely be towing 2 cars out, so that should make things a bit more interesting 8)

Good luck to everyone making the trip. - AB

Donnie, that sucks. As I understand it the builder is less than 100% engaged with the project.

Eh, it's more than just not have the Spyder ready. I could always get a ride. There are other reasons for not going...nothing huge, but in total it's enough.

Maybe an ITR in DS.

I expect we will go a little faster and get there sooner so looks like we'll be doing some 3rd gear shifting next week. We run TH-F and CS runs T-W so I'll be listening for their shift points while observing their runs.

Chuck,

As you listen to shift points versus rev limiter time, don't forget that a lot of time when someone plans on shifting in an autocross they will short shift a little. Also, how long does a shift take from power off to power on? How many feet per second does the car gain in even 2 complete seconds in third gear? How does dealing with a down shift for the next corner hurt carrying speed into the corner?

I found that with the FF (10 to 1 weight to power ratio and VERY close gears and a VERY quick shifting trans) that it took at least 2 seconds of rev limiter time to make a shift worth while. This was based on calculations plus experience.

FYI I did this with my Lotus also which always had to drive back home . . . once with a rod knocking from Rocky Mount

Thanks Dick. Yes less than 10 hits not worth a shift. The rev limiter is different than the Celica or the Miata, it's a soft limit, it just more or less stops accellerating, very little popping or banging. The Sol has a lot of torque, so sometimes it's best to short shift it if there is enough accelleration distance afterwards. My problem usually is that the accelleration is so strong I'm hesitant to floor the throttle after the shift, hence defeating the purpose.
Well, 2 more days until we leave.

Chuck and Donna,

Have both fun and good luck. Plus drive your best . . . assuming you aren't too rusty. :)
