A message to those that said winning the tires wont come back to bite me.

I was out eating dinner, having a very nice relaxing dinner at that. I come back out to my car to find that my front bumper now has a nice red streak on it from someone backing into it. There was also a note on my windshield from an 18 yo boy who left me the license plate of the person that hit me. I’m glad this boy was nice enough to do this. I wish more people would be like him.

So, at this point I am not sure if this is good or bad. I know when I got rear ended in my ranger, I made off like a bandit. (was paid 900, after my deductable. the paint job, a nice quality paint job was only 700)

Time to see how this pan's out... i HATE fighting with insurance companies.

What I'd like to know is where to get a nice paint job for $700. Seriously.

Anyway, sorry to hear of the bad luck. If it's just paint, and the plastic isn't all gouged up, I know someone who can probably fix it...

Sorry, that was rather misleading. It was $700 to fix the bumper and pull/repaint that area with a blending of the paint. I opted to have the whole truck repainted for like 11 or 1200 or something like that. All this was about 10 years ago in fayetteville. Again, sorry for the confusion here.

As far as the damage, the starlight show's no cracks, but the damage looked/felt to be below the base coat. I think a good sanding and an extreamly light coat of filler will get it smooth enough to paint... the work looks so easy, I think I could probably prep it on my own. but I am going to let insurance handle/decide what I am doing.

Ill have pictures tomorrow... at somepoint... maybe.

Parking lot hit and runs really piss me off. My Mini had $1300 worth of damage a few months ago by some drunk coward in the parking lot by Sid's Surplus in Carrboro (next to Mill Town). The cop told me it happens all the time in that parking lot. Time for a camera?

Camera wont do anything but get you the plate number... maybe. You would have to clearly see the face of the driver. If not, the officer told me "there is always the possibility that the person will claim their car must have been stolen and returned. Then the criminal case goes away, but the vehicle owner is still responsible."

I wonder if that excuse works with red light cameras?

criminal charges vs insurnace charges :p so yes

Your insurance is responsible for what your car does... this would be why I dont let other's drive my car's :p
