Hi,

I'm looking forward to seeing all of you tomorrow morning bright and early in majestic Danville, Virginia for the Tarheel Sports Car Club's sixth points event of the year -- Aces High. Thanks go to co-chairs Karl Shultz and David Spratte.

This is the first time in the 45 year history of the club where we've shared a weekend venue with another club, and hopefully it won't be the last -- Triad Sports Car Club will be having an event Sunday and we're promoting a lot of overlap.

We're putting together a post-event picnic onsite after the fourth heat with hot dogs, soft drinks and perhaps a BEvERage or three so that people from both clubs can have a chance to meet each other when a lot of us y'all don't regularly have that opportunity.

Gates open at at 7:30, registration will be open from 8:30 to 9:30, the driver's meeting will be at 9:45 sharp! and first car off will be at or before 10:15. We're trying to beat the heat and humidity that's sure to be there after a warm and wet week. We'll also be running all runs at once. Be sure to bring lots of water and sunscreen, you're going to need it as the high is going to be in the mid-90s.

Wes

Regarding the Triad event on Sunday: Vulcan Tire is flying their plane into Danville on Sunday to set up a display booth at the event. As a thank you for letting them do so, they will be giving away a free set of tires to one lucky autocrosser. So, if you were on the fence about coming to Danville Sunday, then this should push you over the edge.

That's a shame IMHO especially if you are trying to promote socializing after the event.
If you are finished running and working in the earlier groups there is very little incentive to hang around in the heat for a dog and a beverage. Also makes the workers spend much more time out in the sun without a break.
Again IMHO this is one club tradition that should have been left alone. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

While I don't like it either Chuck, I think they are doing it for consistency throughout the weekend. - AB

This is patently untrue. Workers will spend the exact same amount of time working because the run groups will be equal. I don't understand how such a falsehood can ever be thought to be true.

Does that mean we'll see the debut of the THSCC run-work order wheel, the THSCC cone penalty demo board, and Hallelujah the THSCC bus sporting a new awning?????

No, what you'll probably not see is people sitting in a hotel room tonight after taking time off of work to set up a course and reviewing the registration entries and updating Todd and Kendt so that we can ensure a smooth event takes place.

That sounds like an awesome weekend and mixing it up a bit with the all-at-once approach actually sounds like a great idea to encourage folks to stick around to 'grill & chill' after the event simply because this approach IMO lends itself to being a quicker day with smoother worker transitions.

Plus, everyone actually works the same amount of time on course with the exception of the great folks that do all the organizing.

I hate to miss such an exciting weekend, but I'm heading out of town... :(

Excellent!!! :woo:

I hope I can Run 1 and Work 2 and be home by lunchtime.

Socializing outside in 90+ degrees is highly overrated.

Yep! We decided to try something different for this one. You never know until you try, right?

It's gonna be fun. I'm off to go meet Jason Tower, our hero of the weekend for volunteering to be bus driver. See you guys up there tomorrow!

Tomorrow's course should be a riot. I think we've got a whopping 25 cones that "count" in play. Feel free to pick whatever line you guys want to try out.
