Thanks to all who worked so hard to make this a fun event. Despite some complaints I heard, I actually really enjoyed the course. It rewarded looking ahead a great deal. I wish I could have eeked out .3 more seconds than what I did (its gotta be the shocks) but all in all had a blast. I also learned that 10 degrees can make a big difference. I wasn't anywhere NEAR as wiped out after today as I was after last weekends event.

I had a great time today as well. The course was a blast and I didn't understand where everyone was DNF'ing. I can see the high cone count due to the thread the needle elements on the taxiway though. I am a much happier camper today than I was after the event last weekend mainly because of the cooler temperatures today.

Yeah, I really enjoyed the course as well. I don't think I had a single clean run, and I really messed up on the taxiway on my last run of the day, but I had a great time.

It was a fun course but I think I brought the wrong car. It was a "tweener" gear course for a car whose 2nd gear runs out in the mid-50's and I wound up on the limiter for much of my runs. I wasn't brave enough to grab 3rd on the taxiway and when I did grab it on the runway, getting back into 2nd was awkward at best. It was definitely an interesting learning experience in the MR2 although I think it would have been perfect for the longer 2nd gear in the Integra.

Video of rev-limiter madness from my 2nd and fastest run (56.2?).

Thanks to all the organizers and VPs for a great event!

I liked the course--for a novice, it seemed the first few taxiway elements rewarded patience and precision while the runway elements let you get into some speed--- all to be rudely removed by that left-to right slanting 3-cone slalom  ...fun course. I even brought extra ca$h for fun runs, so I was bummed those didn't happen. Better luck next time, I guess....

Looking forward to Danville!

Edit: Did you see that less than 2 secs separated 1st from 7th place in the Novice class? Good competition there....now if only it weren't for that one last cone--- :(

This is from the mouth (keyboard) of the person who was FTP  What would have happened if he brought the right car.........

Great fun today!

My first run was, well...not so hot. I knew I'd hit a couple cones. I had no idea that I'd hit nine. The car wasn't even all that badly marked up, which was another surprise. Maybe I was hitting them all with the back of the car; Eric suggested a shock change, which tightened the car up a fair bit, and as if by magic, I had a fast, clean run. Huh.

Great driving by Keith, Jim, Eric and Dustin (and everyone!) today. I can't imagine what a scorcher Jim would have set had he been in the Integra.

I'm with you, Keith - I'm not clear why there were so many DNFs. I wish we had a better picture of where people were doing it.

Beautiful weather too, I couldn't believe it was mid July. A great day overall. I'm with Keith - I'm much less exhausted today than I was last week!

It's a real shame when you fall into your own trap. I can't recall (read: blocked it out) whose idea it was to throw in the left-right 3 cone slalom at the end. I know we wanted something to slow you down prior to the finish and perhaps add a bit of drama for the spectators. Somehow I got it right on run 1, then blew it completely on run 2, and struggled with it on runs 3 & 4.

Congrats to Rodney for his FS win! He was fast in fun runs at the Jimmy V event, and I hoped he would be fast again - during fun runs. Seems he had a different strategy yesterday

Karl and Les were great to work with - thanks guys!

TSCC Sanford 90 sec was too long
THSCC Sanford 60 second was just right.

That course was fun. A big pucker factor was needed to run the taxiway near the top of second gear.
:D

Big thanks to the event chairs for designing a fun fast course.

Great event and even better weather. I have to admit my 1st run sucked. I can't remember the last time I took out 5 cones. This was a course where if you got behind you stayed behind. My second run wound up being my best. Amazing what happnes when you look ahead.

Great competition in FS again. Art set the bar high on his first run and everyone nervious on there runs. I got lucky at this event.

Congrats on another well run Sanford event. Even w/ the high cone counts, I think everyone had a great time, I did....

So true. I felt terrible about my second run. I took a novice along for a ride, and got WAY behind the diagonal slalom after the "wiggle" element. The whole run after that was terrible. Even worse, the thing that the novice was saying they needed the most help on was "looking ahead". The best I could say was "apparently I need to work on that too. . .".
