Would whoever charged the battery packs last, please let us know where the chargers are. They are not with the battery packs and they are not on the shelves of the trailer. We need to charge these batteries before the bus is picked up tomorrow. Post here ASAP or call me @ 210-3741.

Oops,
They are in my garage because that's where I've been charging them

Talking tlo Bernie, one battery is on high which should be sufficient for the display.
I beleive LEs is drive the bus to Sanford.
If someone is really concerned, he could drop one other battery off at my place and I'll charge it and bring it on Sunday.

Chris

I too can do some charger/battery shuffling tomorrow. I'll be running around a bit anyway.

maybe we need like 2 alternators on the bus, one for the bus.. and one for the batteries, though i am no electrician.

The long term plan is to mount 45 watt solar panels on the trailer roof to charge those booster batteries.

Why don't we just buy a generator and say bye bye to the booster batteries? :deadhorse:

I know, I know, it's a joke, but...

...noise around the bus, gas for each event and storage of gas cans, refills during the event, small engine maintenance, backup plans for when the generator doesn't work, etc, etc, etc... It's a neat idea riddled with holes.

I'll give you the gas cans argument, but will counter it with this scenario:

We have two dead aux batteries on event day, we have a generator out of gas on event day.

Which is easier to remedy? That's right, all of our sites have a gas station within 5 minutes. None of the sites can defy the laws of physics and charge a lead-acid battery in that time period. Never mind that the charging process will likely rely on a generator ;)

Noise?59 dB (full load) My old ears will struggle to pick that up from background conversation. It will be quieter and stink a whole lot less than letting the bus idle...

Maintenance? I know my mower has a simple 4 stroke engine and has gone years with maintenance = fill it with gas. I figure a generator that sees less dust, and fewer hours ought to see Years times 2 or 3.

Backup plan? That would be the same one we have for the day none of the batteries are charged, or the bus throws a rod on the way to an event, etc (we improvise).

We could buy a Subaru brand (Robin) and KNOW without a doubt that it's a winnar and unpossible to screw up.

Scott

Maybe we can get Ken Block to drop by and start the generator for us.

No, wait ... Kevin should be able to do that.

YOU TOOK THE WORDS RIGHT OUT OF MY MOUTH, I was going to post on Dustin's comment but Gwen persuaded me not to, until I saw this. I wonder why every other club in the state has over come these huge problems with generators, except the club with the continuing power problems?????? I guess running a propulsion engine for 12VDC is economical and green.
