I'll give you the gas cans argument, but will counter it with this scenario:
We have two dead aux batteries on event day, we have a generator out of gas on event day.
Which is easier to remedy? That's right, all of our sites have a gas station within 5 minutes. None of the sites can defy the laws of physics and charge a lead-acid battery in that time period. Never mind that the charging process will likely rely on a generator
Noise?59 dB (full load) My old ears will struggle to pick that up from background conversation. It will be quieter and stink a whole lot less than letting the bus idle...
Maintenance? I know my mower has a simple 4 stroke engine and has gone years with maintenance = fill it with gas. I figure a generator that sees less dust, and fewer hours ought to see Years times 2 or 3.
Backup plan? That would be the same one we have for the day none of the batteries are charged, or the bus throws a rod on the way to an event, etc (we improvise).
We could buy a Subaru brand (Robin) and KNOW without a doubt that it's a winnar and unpossible to screw up.
