You say that like it's a good thing. ;)

If we are going to get this thread locked, we have to hit all of the controversial points.

Money can't buy happiness, but somehow it's more comfortable to cry in a Porsche than a Kia.

Ok if you can get that as the rule I'll vote for you for President and vote against generators. You da man !!! Yes I'll start doing AX again if I can work and do runs in 2 back to back heats. That way if I want to I can leave when I'm done.

I like this semi-private forum idea. Every forum on the intardweb doesn't need to be wide open. It's considered a perk for paying members.

Then get Miles back or someone that can dedicate the time to do it. It hasn't been taken seriously since Miles stepped back from it.

I didn't see anything that says it is priority one. Just it is important to some people. Just like it's important to some others about runs all at once or sites closer to home.

The generator, like the current bus, and setup all has flaws. Which ones can and do you want to live with? How many events have been shutdown or seriously delayed because we didn't have a generator to charge the batteries?

....and why in the he11 do we not have an awning yet...

Awnings are for sissies. Besides, those things are maintenance nightmares. Plus think of all the times an event will have to be stopped to retract the awning when the high winds get fired up. And it's really just something the elite "officers" of the club would be allowed to use anyway.

On the generator issue, you guys are just being stupid. Wind power is where it's at. Put a turbine on a mast attached to the bus. Then if the battery dies and there's no wind you just have to fire up the bus and drive it around the course a few times to recharge things. Problem solved. *cough*

Seriously, when someone can finally develop the solar panel cloth and you could make the awning be a big solar panel for the bus, THEN you'll get an awning. But not before. :)

This thread is proving that we should have enough "hot wind" power to run not only the timing equipment but also an A/C unit, Laptops, and any other electrical equipment. Just start a thread titled"

1. Pax Sucks
2. Generator
3. Awning
4. Pax Sucks
5. Thscc is better than Triad
6. Pax Sucks
7. Generator
8. Something involving Politics

Then hook up a collector to the members who have posted to this forum and watch the megawatts fly. :P     :deadhorse:

No no no. Attach it to the top of cars as they run, then every competitor will generate the power. We will just charge a capacitor on each run, and they stop at the finish to discharge it for battery use, and for us to collect the turbine.

While they are doing that, we will hand them a small sheet of paper with their time printed on it, negating the need for a timer display, and the need for a charged mobile battery pack.

I say we create a human sized Hamster wheel connected to a generator. Every person that has said "We need a generator" must run on the wheel for 1 heat at an event.

That will shut 'em up.

Believe it or not, I know a local shop that can build just such a hamster wheel. They've actually done one almost big enough already that was custom for a guy who had some sort of use for large dogs and therapy.

But an off-the-shelf treadmill might suffice, too. Plus some generate their own power for their electronics and we could probably tap off that to charge the bus batteries.
