Day 2, while fun, the course was 10 lbs of crap in a 5 lb bag. Certainly a good course for a car with short gearing and was reasonably small. After 2 brutal runs using 2nd gear and bogging a lot, which is hard with over 400 lb ft of torque, we tried running just 1st gear for the last 2 runs. I blew the finish slalom on run 3 and run 4 clipped a cone early, which cost me an additional .5 pickup. In first gear, we never hit the 54mph limiter either..

I think that was shown with the times that Jinx put down. In the S2000 I was in VTEC for all of about 4 seconds on that course in 2nd gear and with the small rear tires we run out of 2nd at 58 mph. So I was almost never in the real powerband of the car. I did enjoy the course on Sunday. The course Saturday was great but my car was miserable with corded tires in the rear. It was a fun weekend all in all and the karting on Saturday night was excellent.

I did my last and fastest run on Sunday using only 1st gear. I think I only hit my rev limiter in about 2 spots, and not for very long. The S2000 just has no power in 2nd gear below about 40mph, and since the course required low speeds nearly all of the time, I decided after my third run to not bother trying to upshift/downshift/upshift/downshift like I had been doing on my earlier runs, and that ended up saving me about a second. It was in VTEC nearly the entire course.

I agree it was an awesome weekend. It was just too bad more Tarheelers didn't show up.

That would not have worked in my S2000 or Jon's CR that I drove on Sunday. We were both on the short rear tires (245/40/17 instead of 275/40/17) and the AP2 gearing is a good 3-4 mph shorter than your AP1. So I would have been slamming the rev limiter everywhere on course. Plus the AP2 has something the AP1 doesn't have a bit of torque.
