It was a very fun weekend with the exception of cording a rear tire yesterday and rendering my car practically undriveable. Jon was kind enough to offer me a seat in his CR today and I had a much better day. I also found out an S2000 with toe out in the rear can drive really well somehow.

1) How about more notice next year.
2) Don't schedule the event over a school holiday (Columbus Day).

I wanted to go, but we had already planned a vacation before the event was even announced (Meghan probably liked the Great Wolf Lodge better than the NCAC).

Just my 2 cents.

I wish I could have gone.

This weekend was a blast. I wasn't able to attend Sat night but that didn't make the weekend any less fun.

I managed to end up in 4th behind 3 really fast drivers. (Andy Monfalcone, Scott Sawyer and John Byrd.) I'm please with that result. Those aren't bad guys to lose to.

And I apologize for my inaccurate reporting last night. My memory was a little fuzzy when I wrote that.

All in all, a great event. Triad set the bar high again and we better step up next year!!

Holy crap. I just looked at the PAX for day one and then for the whole event. I went from 72nd in pax on day one (Heat 1 ran on a wet SLIPPERY course) to 51st after day 2!!! That made me feel good!!!

So, apparently 5th on day one + 3rd on day two = 4th for the weekend.

I actually beat John Byrd today. If only they gave out trophies for each day.

Day two results are HERE

How much fun to finally make it to an auto-x after at least four years off - pretty sure the last auto-x I attended was Laurinburg '05! It was good to see a few familiar faces and a LOT of new ones. Boy, trying to drive rally-x style on pavement is SLOW. I finally got an OK time on my last run, telling myself to be _patient_ about every third cone...

Sorry to see to few Tarheelers...

Heat 1 had a ton of classes. The Tarheelers that I know ran there were myself in STS, Dustin in STU, maybe Lee in ST?

Somebody help me out here, who else ran?

Chuck, someone who ran 1st heat will have to post. I think the big class that ran first both days was Tire. HS ran 2nd and HSL ran 4th both days. It was never really WET, just damp for 1st on Saturday. If you recall, that parking lot has a couple of places that “weep” for quite awhile once it’s rained. So, those spots were wet both days, but not really a factor since you knew they were there.

I’d like to thank everyone who went from Tarheel, both for supporting the club and for the tremendous support you all gave to each other. I really felt like you all were behind me helping me go faster. I had a fun weekend with you all. Thanks to Dustin and Stephen for helping me change tires Saturday and Sunday. It sure went more quickly with your help!

On a personal note-and to brag just a little, l just looked at the results and if they had paxed the ladies with the men I would have been 29th overall. I can live with that. I was 1st in pax ladies, but they separate out the ladies classes, so *shrug*. The coolness of the weekend was to beat HS and GS. That put a smile on my face. :D

I hope that next year more Tarheelers will show their support. I’ll bet almost all of you checked the “socialize” box on the form you filled out when you joined the club! We had a great time in our little tent city and fun at the banquet at the go cart place on Saturday night. Sorry, Dustin, I know, another thread, another time. I just couldn’t help myself.

Again, it was a great weekend. Congratulations to all who came. Remember, the first rule to winning is to show up!

I had a good time this weekend. Wished I could have stuck around in for the festivities Saturday night but at least I got the driving part in.

And I have to add I had a good time despite the curse of the cords that seems to hang around Type Rs.

Big thanks to Bret for letting me beat on his car for two days and to Jim for totting tires up.

I'm not sure what I'm driving.
Maybe an ITR in DS.
Or half-assed STX prepped 330.

As someone who did run in first heat, it was wet. Run 1 had wipers on and runs 2 and 3 were wet. Run 4 had a drying line, but with 400+ hp, I couldn't get on the throttle much. Day 1 was a much better Corvette course too, which really sucked :( I am pretty confident I could have gone easily 2 seconds faster if fully dry, if not more.

Day 2, while fun, the course was 10 lbs of crap in a 5 lb bag. Certainly a good course for a car with short gearing and was reasonably small. After 2 brutal runs using 2nd gear and bogging a lot, which is hard with over 400 lb ft of torque, we tried running just 1st gear for the last 2 runs. I blew the finish slalom on run 3 and run 4 clipped a cone early, which cost me an additional .5 pickup. In first gear, we never hit the 54mph limiter either...

I'm glad to see the THSCC group stick it out. I think as a club, we are pretty outmatched driver for driver. :x - AB

Arron, thanks for posting. I didn't realize it was that wet. My bad. I can see both of those courses being a handful for high power cars, especially Sunday. I was worried about the finish on Sunday, even with my 117 hp.
Guess I'm lucky to have a more parking lot friendly autocross car.

P.S.
My Hero camera sucks! I didn't get any video from Sunday. Someone, please post a Sunday run. I'd like to see the course again. Thanks.
