I'll keep this brief for now, since I've been up since 5:00AM and drove an untold number of autocross runs in the heat today.
- This wasn't the same old "look ahead look ahead look ahead" repetitiveness that plagues some other schools
- Huge amount of seat time
- Instructor/student ratio was perfect, and allowed me to work closely with one instructor (rather than two or three) for an entire session at a time
- The instructors all did a great job of articulating things that I didn't even know I was doing
Today was also the first autocross school in years that I decided to take very, very seriously. I brought Hoosiers. I checked tire pressures. I didn't BS with people very much, and I didn't pay much attention to how others were driving. So I'm sorry if I seemed standoffish, I was kinda busy
I went in pretty dejected and left optimistic. They zeroed in on one thing I've been doing wrong, and left me with some strategies and techniques for breaking myself of the bad habit.
Anyway, if you're looking to improve your autocrossing, the Solo Pro guys are doing the school thing a little differently. It's not the same old thing over and over again. Time will tell, but on the basis of today, it works.
Fingers crossed for tomorrow.
