Kudos on another fun course put together for our club. Big thanks to Chris and Eric for designing and chairing the event.

I'm always surprised how fun a course really is after driving it. During the course walks it seemed very tight, but again driving was a different experience. Driving it right was a blast and yet there is still 3 seconds out there for me to shave off my time to be as good as the best. :banghead:

So for a little constructive criticism. The course seemed a bit short for the site. I was expecting about 60 second runs. Danville is a great site with lots of room; it's no Laurinburg, but it seems like our second largest site with a great surface. Are we restricted from using more of the runway before the turn-around? In general, what's involved in the decision making process for determining length of a course?

While I wasn't there, usually the amount of time up the short taxiway is due to setting the launch interval. If you go to far up the taxiway, you end up with a longer launch interval than desired. - AB

Here is my fastest run of the day. There were definitely a couple of mistakes that cost me time but it was a decent run.

I just looked through the past several years worth of results, a 40-50 second course is standard at Danville.

I thought the course was fun. I wish I had not been contributing to the WESADA so much on my last runs and had paid more attention to the differences the empty passenger seat makes. I need to find the person who is the right weight for that seat to not slow me down too much but that balances the car out

I actually liked the run up to the Chicago box that made speed management important.

Thanks Wes, I didn't think to review old event logs.

I guess I have new expectations for Danville.

I think Aaron hit it on the head - management of overlap gets to be really difficult at Danville. Longer courses are possible to create, specifically if portions of the Taxiway are used as we've done in the past, but the added time almost always comes before the requisite cross-overs. This either reduces safety margin, or increases launch interval (i.e. fewer runs), neither of which are good options.

Or we could just make the whole course a constant 45' slalom.... that should make the times increase :D

.... back on topic, thanks Cris, Eric and Wes for a fun day!

Your CSP car shouldn't need any ballast.

Are you sure it isn't the lightweight in left seat that's causing the problem

Yeah, that's a big part of it  As for my CSP car, my competitor threatened to protest me, but it was disallowed as he doesn't have standing

I really liked the approach into, and exit out of, the far turnaround. Done properly, it was a great challenge do do some braking (and downshifting) under cornering, but not too much, lest you get a bad exit and ruin the return section. Which was taken flat out in the S2000 until braking for the C Box. "Pop pop pop pop pop pop pop..." goes the limiter.
