Very fun course, and a great day, even if I was BTBYAGRL. . .

It actually ended up being really fun having the sort of "shootout" 2 runs only to lay down your best time. You stop thinking about particular sections of the course and just put the hammer down and hope for the best. No refining a run.

Its a good thing too, Lee would have beaten me up a lot worse had he gotten a couple more shots at it. I saw him run a 48.0 in fun runs. I'm not sure if I had much left out of my car than the 50.6 I ran on my last run. Maybe high 49's at best.

The rain was fun, although I need to learn to slow down and not drift as much in the wet. The way I drove the course was fun, but definitely not fast.

Thanks to Walter and Gwen for another great course.

the day was great. Couldnt be any more happier with my car on its first outing. the course was awesome i love g-ville lots of shade to watch and nice area to run.

The third worker group felt like it lasted FOREVER not sure y or how but we were out there from the begging of run group b in the second session to the middle of run group a in the 4th session!!!

Other than that the day was great.

Kudos to Gwen and Walter, the course was a hoot in the dry. I never thought I'd see a course in Greenville where I would spend so much time near the top of second gear. They really maximized the use of that space, that is for sure, and apparently the course design and the pressure of getting it done in 2 runs worked for me. I just stopped thinking and let instinct take over, now I just need to figure out how to do that every time.

Jeb, not your fault and it will be all taken care of. It was reassuring knowing that the problem would be taken care of.

Les, if you figure out how to channel this ability, I'll make it worth your while if you tell me how you do it. Last time I managed it was Sanford at the end of last year.

I was the last driver of run group 2A when the horn blew. Definitely a little early to be calling group 3 workers. :soap:

At the end of the day, it turn out to be a fun course. Gwen and Walter have got a good formula for making a great course in a small area. I'm looking forward to part 4. Thanks guys.

I was bummed after the morning runs on the wet sealed asphalt. The only place slicker is the Orange County Speedway overflow parking field after an inch of rain. The RallyX'ers will understand that.

OK... I going to embarrass myself, but in the interest of safety it's a good reminder.
So, after my first run on stickies which didn't work so well on the wet pavement, I decided to switch to my street tires. We'll my car was backed in when I took the tires off when I arrived on site, but I pull in forward to swap to street tires. My 2nd morning run felt as bad as my run on stickies so I was even more frustrated. :banghead: And again I pull in forward to switch back to stickies for the afternoon.

At the end of the day when I went to put my street tires on I began check rotation of the tires since I remembered I was in a different direction earlier. That's when I realized I did not change sides the street tires were on. So my directional tires were on backwards during my 2nd run. The nice grooves in the tread were puddling water in front of the tire instead of channeling it away.

I am lucky I thought about this before I drove home that afternoon through the heavy downpours.

Well, I feel stupid but fortunate. I think I won't forget to check tire direction again. And I hope others will remember my story so they won't ever accidentally put their tires on the wrong side of their car.

SAFETY TIP: Always remember to check the rotation arrows on the tires before putting them your car!

End of humility section...

Where are those results! I think I came in 2nd in SM and I want to find out.

Since this is my thirteenth year of doing this and I haven't figured it out yet, I suppose it is unrealistic to think that I ever will.

Well, I was hoping for a different answer, but I'm in the same position.

Yep - my bad

I had picked out a car to watch for when they had gone into the last round through the B grid. I don't know if things got a little out of order, or there were more 2-driver cars than I realized, but there were alot more cars from that group than I expected.

Next time we'll check directly with the grid worker for when we are close enough to the end of the run group.

Just wanted to say, next time I'll make sure to pay the no rain bill. The rain sucked and cost me a whoopin' by Chris Lin. I will say I got his time by ~2 seconds on the fun runs in the dry, but that don't count. Oh well...

Hats off to EVERYONE that helped setup and made this another great event. And congats to Art for pulling off a win. That should balance out the points some now. Maybe I still have a chance for a decent showing at the end of the year. That mustang is fun :sing:

One of the aspects of the course that I really liked was the way it could trick you into going too fast into both turnarounds. Both sets of features on the way to the turnarounds were pretty fast, and often made slowing down for the turnarounds a challenge. I didn't manage to drive this course all that well, but I liked that it was "difficult."

I'm not usually one to make excuses, but I'm going to this time. I counted it up this afternoon, and I'm pretty sure this set of tires has over 100 runs on them. Even on my worst bad day - and I have a lot of bad days, it seems - I'm not getting raw timed by ST cars. I think it's time for a new set of Hoosiers.

Of course, having a car that is so easy on tires that I end up throwing them away before they're corded is an excellent problem to have.

That is exactly what hung me out on my last run! Coming out of the second turnaround you really could build up a good amount of speed. Well, it got good to me and I pushed it a bit hard into the braking zone and WHEEEEE the rear of the car came around and I played Tokyo difter.

Also, I know this will come off as self serving but, could consideration be given to running G'ville twice next year. I heard several people make that same comment.

 Oh, me, me, me! That could actually be considered the perfect storm! Then, you'd get to chair one, and Walter and I could still do a "Part 4." It is absolutely a KICK designing a course for that site! :D

I think that is actually one of the best sites that THSCC has. No, you can not design a 70mph course. But you can design a true AX course where you really have to look ahead and be looking side to side more than staring out the windshield.

It is an easy site to get to from Raleigh and only 70 minutes or less from NE Raleigh.

The turn at the top of the figure 8 was the most interesting. I drove it as two separate turns. Thanks goodness Walter's car rotates like mine on throttle lift :-)
