Broadening the Reach of the Jimmy V Charity Event

So, we all know the economy is the dumper, blah, blah, blah. And, like almost every other charity event or organization we've seen sponsorship decline this year.

But, like the shirt says, "Don't ever give up."

We're optimists and we want to not have our donation levels backslide from previous events. To try and make up the deficit we're asking you, the participants of the event to reach out to friends, family, co-workers, etc.

If you get a chance, wander over to the event site. And download the PDF of the sponsor sheet. No event is too small, but if we get just a 100 participants to get 10 people to donate an average of $10 it would make a huge difference.

The final tally from this event is in, and I'll be delivering the checks to Nick Valvano tomorrow morning.

$6805 total was raised, with $3250 earmarked for the Kay Yow / WCBA Cancer Fund (which is administered by the V Foundation for Cancer Research).

Anyone keeping track of the running total?

I know last year was better, but we didn't do that bad this year. Thanks for the help everyone!

Thanks again, especially to Wes and everyone else involved in this great event. It looks like the club did pretty well this year after all. This is about what was raised in 2007 I think, which in the climate of the year/economy and all is pretty good.
