Tim and Jinx just sent out the press release found below this morning. As the release states, they have departed Evolution and have started their own school. I'm excited for both of them and the course offerings look good - the "competition" school looks particularly fun and helpful. FWIW, I too have left Evolution and am really excited to join Tim & Jinx at SoloPro as an instructor. The folks at Evo have been great and I'll miss working with them.

There are no pre-requirements for taking any courses. Karl Shultz asked me the other night about this since it had been a source of frustration for folks with some other schools (i.e., must take #1 before #2, and so on).

Triad will be hosting SoloPro schools in late March.

Thanks,
Eric

Press Release – January 2009

A new driving school for the solo community is coming your way in 2009! Tim Aro and Jinx Jordan, veteran autocrossers and multi-time national champions, are combining efforts and are proud to announce the launch of SoloPro Driving School – an exciting new autocross school offering classes for driver’s of all abilities.

SoloPro Driving School offers three distinct classes, each with its own key objectives. Two of the classes, the Intro and Comp classes, are part of the Foundation Series which focuses on the most important fundamentals of performance driving and autocross competition. “The Intro and Comp are arguably the most important classes in our curriculum.” Jinx Jordan explains. “They provide the foundation upon which everything else is built.”

SoloPro Driving School’s 3rd class offering, the Extreme, has been developed over the past two years and is part of the Pro Series which is geared towards the hard core competitor looking to find those last few tenths. This school covers two days, with multi-lap runs, and offers two analysis sessions to view data collected during the day. It promises to be one intense weekend of autocrossing! “The data we've obtained during the Extreme school over the past two years have given us amazing insight into what differentiates a mid-pack driver from a front-runner.” Aro explains. “It has benefited us as instructors as we now have a much better understanding of the subtle nuances of performance driving.”

Tim Aro, a former instructor and co-owner of Evolution Performance Driving School, has recently parted ways with Evolution. This departure has resulted in the creation of a new vision for instructing autocrossers - whether they are beginners or seasoned pros. "I have been very fortunate to have had the opportunity to instruct hundreds of solo drivers over the past decade. Launching SoloPro Driving School with Jinx Jordan, who has outstanding driving and teaching credentials, allows us to pursue our passion for teaching and fulfill the desire to help drivers of all abilities attain their goals."

Jinx Jordan, also a former instructor with Evolution, has admired the format of the Extreme school from day one. "I feel this is the future of advanced solo instruction. When we began discussing this joint venture I became very enthused and I feel fortunate to have the opportunity to continue teaching the Extreme! I am really excited about the future of SoloPro Driving School and look forward to an exciting 2009!"

Several classes are already scheduled for 2009. SoloPro Driving School will be conducting a limited number of classes during the year, so book early to ensure your spot on the calendar.

More information about SoloPro Driving School is available online at www.soloprodrivingschool.com.

Looks like the Triad dates are for the two 'foundation' classes only. Hopefully, they'll also add a 2-day Extreme school somewhere local to us.

That sounds great Eric. Can I cross post this to AutocrossForum.com? Do they have a website yet that I could link to?

Todd,

I'm sure they'd love for the link and/or press release to be cross posted.

Thx,
Eric

Maybe we can get one organized this summer here? Jackie and I would be up for it, and with Keith, Gwen and Bernie, we've got 5 right there. I would need it sometime between early May and mid-August. Danville seems to be the best spot, and if Extreme is the only school there, we could perhaps setup a really nice school with two different sections.

I've done the Extreme school twice now, and I definitely learned and improved a good bit from the experience. Heck, just to have the opportunity to get major, concentrated seat time with feedback is something you simply don't get a chance to have in autocross. I think the Extreme school might be better served in the future having a couple fewer students, even more seat time and then an after dinner debriefing at the hotel.

Is there enough interest out there to commit to an Extreme School here this year? I will volunteer to organize it if we get enough people to sign-up/put deposits down.

Chuck

you could probably sign me and Brantley up for it, we'd be interested in the instruction.

Not sure if we qualify as having the "foundations" down enough to run extreme, but we'd give it a shot. We both loved the intermediate school put on last year.

Sign me up. Last year at the extreme school Tim got me to smoke through the slaloms. I never was able to do it again in competition. I now know what I can do. I just need to be able to do it again.
