I know that at least a couple of classes haven't been decided yet, what's the matter with you guys not trying to trash talk before the event date!

Is it too late to talk smack??!!

It was great competition in CSP every month. It was a fun, if small, class this year. I'll call it a tie by attendance.

Today's course was legen - wait for it - dary!

I especially enjoyed the right hand sweeper at the far side, going onto the taxiway. That was a neat balancing act kind of element - it could be done totally flat in my S2000, but at the risk of pinching the entry to the following slalom pretty badly. It was also satisfying to have elements where, if I took third gear, I didn't have to immediately put the car back into second gear.

Great fun. Thanks gang!

wow. what fun. it is obvious i have not done this in yrs and yrs.but i had fun, the 325is ran flawlessly all day long. I do like german stuff... i cant drive for flip, but i do like the car.. the course was very quick, tricky though a great deal of fun. Note: i did this today with no power steering. It was not the heaviest in the world, not like my old Z,, however not being used to a car that stiff, i think it ran great. I got to see many club members i have not seen in years.. i certainly enjoyed my self to day, i think i will stay with dirt for now.. I seem to be better at it, than pavement. However, all told my day was cold and fun. Maybe in five more years i will return to pavement, it is too early to tell yet.

Catch you all, at the next meeting.. With my one autocross point.

Sanford has never been my favorite site, but yesterday did it’s best to turn me around on that. Congrats to Judie, Stephen and Michael for a great course. I liked the wheel, and after taking it counter clockwise in the morning, decided (at Bernie’s suggestion) to take it clockwise in the afternoon, and found it to be much faster that way. Curious what others thought. I also liked the double off set gates going and coming from the wheel. I had a little trouble with the “wiggle room” four single gates, only because I have almost no depth perception, and struggled to find the entrance. Getting through them was a breeze! I could have used a few more gerbils under the hood getting across the finish line-uphill, and with a headwind, the little Mini struggled, but it was fun getting into 3rd and staying there. Thanks again for another great day!

I'd also like to take this opportunity to thank all the ladies that made 2008 a banner year for Ladies Class. For the two or three folks who don’t know how competitive I am, it was an honor to have been pushed as hard as Mo, Malia, Jackie, Judie, and the rest pushed me this year. They really made me work hard. It was a great year.

edited to correct my clockwise/CCW statement. After writing this I realized the cones were on my side in the morning and on the righthand side in the afternoon. My bad.

definitely a fun course.

I took the wheel clockwise all 4 times, just felt natural that way. The way I see it is that you will either have to make an extra steering input before you enter (to go counterclockwise) or afterwards. If you do it afterwards, your extra input is NOT on the sealed asphalt. If you have enough power that getting back over to the left afterwards required you to lift, then I can see why you might go the other way. I do NOT, I had it back on the floor pretty quickly after the wheel and didn't have to lift.

On the crossover road, I had the car as far left as I could get it, in an effort to really really backside the cone on driver's right going onto the taxiway. Once the car was on the taxiway, it was still drifting left, but was manageable for entry into the slalom that followed.

I'm pretty sure Sunday was my first win in this car, and certainly my first FTS trophy. I'm still pretty amped about it!

I did it clockwise, every time. About 80% of the stuff leading to that wheel could be done full throttle, so rather than try to force the car over to the right to go CCW, I decided to extend that straight into the wheel and brake very late for it. Coming out, I figured I'd be going slow regardless, so it hardly mattered if I came out on the "wrong side." Getting back to those offsets, at full throttle shifting into 2nd gear, wasn't a problem.

When I looked at it and did the course walk I thought it would be faster CCW. Then during the novice coursewalk I saw Jim F going CW and I thought "oh-Oh"

I went CCW my first run and CW after that. (Not that I am much of a judge as poorly as I drove) but it felt better CW.

Jim explained the reasoning to me as to why it is faster CW so he can explain if he wants :)

I enjoyed the course, I hate cold hard tires they make me dnf and not grip  I also got a good bit of brake lockup from hard pads, maybe for the Danville event I won't be so lazy and change them, its not like I don't have a ton of front pads, (Thanks Ryan)
