I just got this reminder in the mail. If anyone is free this weekend and wants to autocross on a great site, this is it!

All,

There is still some space available for the 2008 Virginia Autocross Championship this weekend at ACU-4.

We will extend registration until 10am tomorrow for those of you who have not registered.

http://www.tidewatersportscarclub.com/i ... Itemid=204

Please take a moment to ensure you are on the base access list.

http://www.tidewatersportscarclub.com/i ... &Itemid=56

This event is quite a value, for the same price as 2 autocrosses you will get 2 days of autocrossing, a t-shirt, lunch on Saturday, and other free swag. Also, there are a number of prizes/giveaways going on over the weekend. Saturday’s single elimination top-16 shootout will award $250 for first place and $150 for second place. Guess raw time FTD winners each day will receive $50. Each day we will draw a number of a competitor to have their entry fee refunded ($50). There are quite a few nice prizes that will be raffled off to 2-day competitors (no raffle ticket purchase necessary).

MWR will be serving breakfast and lunch both days. 2-day competitors will be given a ticket good for one ‘meal’ on Saturday (drink, chips, sandwich).

We’re really excited about the event and our sponsor contributions! I hope to see you all out there.

Regards,
Michael Schnekser
VP of Competition

I'm sure this is an awesome site and will be a great event.

However ---

The first THSCC member that I hear of who attends this event, and skips our Sanford autocross and the NCAC, is club secretary for life.

The second two THSCC members that I hear of doing the same - worker coordinators for life.

If there's a fourth - keeper of the bus, for life. In addition to the usual duties, you will be required to keep the bus and trailer prominently displayed in your driveway, regardless of family complaints, restrictive covenants, homeowner's associations or political affiliation. You will also be required to wash, wax, vacuum and clean the windows on the bus weekly. (Alternate punishment will be arranged in the case of Karl Shultz. Something involving a non-turbo Forrester.)

It only gets worse from here on.

I represent that remark  ……but I get your point! We’ll see you in Sanford!

Oh, and by the way, 115 entries for NCAC, and only 9 are THSCCers. Again............... :kisses: our :moon: :moon: :moon:  !!!

Donna and I will be at ACU4 this weekend, but we do not have room to park the bus at our house with 3 cars, 2 trucks and a trailer already there, sorry. (we have a buyer for our tire trailer, so I didn't count it.) It wasn't much of a decision: 2 days on the biggest piece of concrete with an ocean view I've ever seen vs 1 day at Sanford, plus a chance to kick a couple of CRs butts...

Chuck, if I read correctly then you and Donna would probably be the first and second people going there instead of Sanford. That makes one of you Secretary and one of you Worker Coordinator FOR LIFE. I'm sure Art doesn't mind letting you two choose which one gets which job.

Not to spoil the fun, but the McDonald Plan requires two consecutive infractions - (a) skipping this weekend's THSCC event to run the Va. event, and (b) failure to represent THSCC in the NCAC. While Chuck and Donna are definitely on shakey ground, they're not sentenced... yet :P

I am happy to see Donnie interested in promoting club event participation. I hereby appoint him the 2008 THSCC Christmas Party Attendance Officer.

I graciously accept your appointment, provided that (a) nobody minds that I've never been to a TH Christmas party before, (b) nobody minds that I won't be going again this year, and (c) nobody minds that I won't actually do any work in this role. It's not that I don't want to go to the party, but it's pretty much a given that it will conflict with another Christmas gathering of mine (it's good when most of you and your wife's family is in the state, not so hot when they're just spread out enough that going to all the gatherings is expected yet an ordeal all at the same time).

I thought Stephen asked us to not post on the message board all the reasons we're not going. So I haven't.

OK, that’s fair. I think he did suggest that. I was just hoping that our big guns were just staying under the radar until that weekend.

I feel like I’m making a pest of myself trying to get folks interested in attending NCAC as a matter of club pride. I know we have the drivers to bring the cup home. I hate that there’s just no interest this year. Why do you think that is? Is it because it’s so late in the year and after Nationals? What’s your take on it, and what can we do next year to raise interest again? Hum, now there’s new thread material!

I don't mind people saying why they aren't going. What I did mind was people that were early on the bandwagon to bash the event before it happened basically encouraging others not to go. We had that happen to us when we hosted it a few years back and nothing good comes of it.

What I mind is the LARGEST and the "PREMIER" sportscar club in the state can't muster up ten percent of its enrollment for the NCAC. That really sucks in my opinion. We need to drop the premier and put down lack luster. Excuses are like rectums everyone has one and they all stink. To be the best in the state You've got to show up! Thats the first step in winning any contest. Right now we've not fielded enough participation to even meet the requirement of twenty in PAX. How freakin lame is that. Just my reserved opinion, and probably every other club in the states also.

This stuff is supposed to be fun.

Calling people out for not putting their membership in a car club as their highest priority in life is out of line.

Wes, who's glad that he waited three hours before typing up a response after locking the thread.
