Their desire to use 15 cones leaves a bit out IMHO

I'll be there

Did you forget the last time we attended an event with a figure 8? If it has that element it has disaster written all over in IMO.

I was wondering how many DNF's there would be at this thing based on the fact that it's got several loops and I would guess most of these guys don't really have much autocross experience.

If I choose to go, I'll just tape a course map to my steering wheel...

JK Motorsports are the guys who inpired me to "modify" The Dog last year.

Most real car guys in Greenville think the JK guys are jerks and this includes import guys. They bad mouth everybody else in town and take advantage of young newbies here for college. They've slandered me many times and I really don't think much of them.

Don't be surprised if they mess up the USL as a site for us.

+ 1

I really can not fathom the idea of the idea that the guys at JK actually pulling this off. I predict it will be an unorganized train wreck, Full of ricers pulling stunts that would get anyone ban from THSCC. I for one will stay off the streets of Greenville that day.

I am assuming they are looking to do this type of event...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=318cxTz6M3g

Which I would say is more Japanese style gymkhana (higher speed, focus on drifting, no reverse). Everyone seems ready to slam this. Personally I don't see anything wrong with the type of event. Frankly I "get" this much more than standard drifting events. At least this is drifting with a purpose. ;)

Now, I wonder if the owners of the site know this is much closer to a drifting event than a classic autocross. I see the risk of something going wrong (i.e. driver hitting and damaging property) is much higher especially if those who are participating have little experience doing this.

Another interesting video...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RHgjFPhhzY8

I think that is more British/European style gymkhana (lower speeds, tighter circles for smaller courses and reverse tricks).

After Stephen and I attended the Hyperfest drifting event at VIR-P I can say that 98% of those who were driving sucked at it. That would lead me to believe that the chance of someone with talent to drive like the video (attending this event) would be VERY slim. The likelyhood of someone damaging something (their car or Will's property) is very high IMO.

Just because it's close I want to go watch though.

If thats the case, then I predict someone is going to take out a section of chainlink fence or loose it at the finish and hit another car. If it was close to me, I would drop by and watch for entertainment value as well.

That is my point exactly. I agree with Sean. Those guys will never pull this off without an incident.

Maybe we should go as observers and start damage control for THSCC.

Its kinda hard to argue that THSCC doesn't drift after Randy's recent performance there. . .

Come to think of it, HE should go to this Gymkhana autocross, I bet he'd clean up, even if they DO require use of reverse in some sections; he's got some experience there.

Like I said, 2% can do it and Randy is one of them. I briefly thought about asking him to go for the entertainment value and to show those rice-boyz how it's done.

I've marked in on my calender so maybe Walter, Cline, Ryan and myself can go watch the carnage.

I'm definitely not doubting Randy's skills, don't get me wrong, but we can't really get on our high horse when we let that go on at our event. I enjoyed the heck out of it, and I at no point thought he was doing anything genuinely dangerous knowing that he was a VERY talented driver, but it WAS drifting, and it was probably at higher speeds than will be achieved at the event under discussion. If he HAD lost it, he could have done a LOT of damage (more than they would at this event).

That said, I really would like to see him show up the ricers myself.

so we now know which side of that fence you are on then, don't we Brice.

Randy has some fans, and well some detractors.
