Well, Whitney got this ball rolling with his Eurothrash event on Saturday, July 19th, at Sanford. Well as you all know, I'm a sucker for betting on stupid things, so maybe some betting on who has the fastest Japanese car there would be fun. Well, it will be fun for me, anyway.

Nevermind that I'm never the one that's driving it. I'm working on that part.

Turning Japanese - A Competition of Sorts

Here is event information from my fellow homeboy, Wes Eargle.

Wes Eargle wrote:

The event GM is on vacation ...

In brief, the event info is that there will be a Intermediate School on Saturday that will be very unstructured with a focus on seat time. Think of a test-and-tune with an instructor sitting next to you. Season pass holders *do not* get into this event free. Entry is limited to drivers that have a minimum of five events under their belt.

Sunday's event will be a foil to the last event that is currently titled Turning Japanese. Details to follow as Dustin and Kevin find a way to return emails. Last I heard, KA was working on dashplaque art that needs to be sent to VK last week.

TOP 10 Japanese car drivers in the PAX will receive a free...something clever! It will, more than likely, have a Honda logo on it. As should all things related to fast cars. You might also get a bag of minute rice.

BOTTOM 10 Japanese car drivers in PAX will receive some other form of motivation. Next time Whitney and Fredrickson are discussing their "Arctic Silber" and "Technoviolet" E36 M3s, you will all be forced to listen to the conversation. You might also get a bag of minute rice.

Now for the pre-event special challenge. Predict the top 10 Japanese RAW and PAX winners. Whoever gets closest wins prize which will be announced at the trophy ceremony. Here is the list so far of potential drivers from the prereg page. Points will be given for picking the right person and for getting them in the right spot.

Go ahead and pick your top ten, and put them in your actual predicted order. If a two driver car, please be specific regarding which driver is fast. I don't want someone to unknowingly pick me, and have it end up being Art.

Note -- off-track betting is not only allowed but encouraged :)

Bonus points for anyone who figures out where "Competition Of Sorts" comes from. Hint - it's a band.

(With thanks to Mike Whit/B]n[/B]ey for letting me steal his idea, and most of the body of his post, and for allowing me to turn it into what it really should have been in the first place...)[/url]

I have edited this post A LOT OF TIMES now.

I will more than likely be driving the Mustang this weekend unless someone wants to have a codriver in something from the land of rice.

I suck at working on my own cars, as in, I haven't even started.

Real men drive cars made out of wood, not rice burners. Pffft.

Chris won't be in Danville this weekend, so she can be crossed off anyone's Turning Japanese pax/raw lists . She'll be in Valdosta doing a test & tune with Jonathan Roberts.

Sincerely,

Chris' Administrative Assistant/Nanny

Anyone who singles out ANY 'bottom 10' for any kind of award has not been there in a LONG time. People who are just having fun, who do not get a lot of seat time, or who do not have a lot of experience, do NOT enjoy being singled out for 'special awards'. It is time to stop this trend before we drive people away from autocrossing. Do whatever you want for 'top ten' contests, but please do not insult people with 'bottom 10' 'awards'.

Agreed, although it is fun to make fun of people.

How about if you restrict it to THSCC members only (lowest ten THSCC members in pax). If you're a member, then you probably understand that its all in good fun.

Plus, I wanna win SOMETHING.
