Did you happen to notice what kind of setup they were running? Shocks, tire size, etc.

He had a stock front bar and Konis on the car. He was running 245/35/18 front and 275/35/18 rears. I spoke with Steve for the better part of 20 minutes in impound yesterday. He said the car is a major pig and won't rotate worth a damn. He also owns a 128 that has a sway bar and Konis as well that he is going to test back to back with the 135 as he thinks the 128 will be better at HPT due to less weight and the ability to play with different rear tires and not have issues putting power down. The big thing is you cannot fit anything larger than a 245 on the front of the car. He said if someone made a 255 it might barely fit but the fender clearance on the car is horrible.

On a tire wear note I am now over 40 runs on my front Hoosiers and they still have a bunch of meat left on them. :D

Was there an event in DC this past weekend? Dude, we should have gone. I bet AS was a riot.

Guys, I hate to burst the bubble, but:

1) Donnie, you are already married.
2) Polygamy isn't legal in NC.
3) That kind of marriage isn't legal in NC (I guess you could go to Mass or CA for the ceremony).

Thanks guys. I got engaged in mid March. The wedding is in the end of November and seems to be consuming my life recently. Thus, racing and other stuff are on the back burner. - AB

And, it's really hard when the sway bar breaks AGAIN in the middle of afternoon runs on day 1. (but there is a happy ending....Donnie loaded us up with all the necessary hardware to fix said swaybar) :P

Was it the endlinks again? If you guys are still using the strano bar you should try some of these. They should be able to make one that fits the STi. http://www.powergridinc.com/swaybar2_big.asp

Or these http://www.energysuspension.com/pages/endl.html

That first one would never handle the load at the bolt in the middle. The second one looks fine.

Problem is we have a different bar than you're thinking. We thought getting one with the tabs turned 90 degrees would be a good thing so we could use traditional heim joint links. So I took my car to Addco and they "engineered" another bar. Problem is it's bent such that the links sit at a bit of an angle and it just keeps breaking heim joints at their bolt. Right where threads start (which is the weakest point). I *think* if they were sitting straight up and down it would be fine, but am not totally sure. In any event, we're thinking of just switching back to the old style bar. That one broke a control arm tab, but that took two years and a completely stuck swaybar.

Thanks Marcus. They have been running an Addco bar. The design of the bar is such that the end links are at a relatively acute angle, thus making them prone to shear off the bolts. This was the 3rd to break over the past two months. They no longer have the Strano bar, but are looking for another one right now. Jonathan talked to Sam at DC and I don't think he has any more. If you happen to know where one is available they'd love to buy another to replace the Addco.

Thanks,
Eric

Someone tired a hybrid heim/bushing link but he never posted if it worked. At the bottom of the page someone had a custom 31mm solid bar made. http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthr ... 43&page=23

I must be bored this morning.

No way that extended bolt would hold up. Not mounted in single shear like that. Maybe add another control arm tab (if legal) and mount it in double shear.

For reference, the "Strano bar" is really just the first Addco bar. We had that and now have the second. We can most likely get the old one back, if not have another one made. It won't be a big deal to get, I don't think.
