The rules would be the same as for STX, however the class would be open to two seaters. This would include some ST2 cars that are prepped beyond the ST2 rules.

examples of over-prepped ST2 cars: Big brakes on a Miata, Torsen on a NA Miata.

Would there be an exclusion list? That's up for member comment. I vote "No" even though I could see an Elise being a ringer (maybe some P-cars as well).

As for the PAX. I think initially it will be around "1". That would mean people are in it for the competition, not the glory :)

Now that I think about it, while it would be a cool class, there probably wouldn't be much interest in STU2. Nelson Kick could run his Carrera there and maybe Chuck Branscomb might run his M5 there a couple times a year, but otherwise it probably wouldn't have much interest.

If you do run outside of the club, do remember, they will have no such class called STX2, so you will be SOL and need to run the appropriate SCCA class they recognize.

I voted no because of this. - AB

I think not doing it because people might not just slip right into another clubs rule set is no reason at all.

As long as people understand its a THSCC only class then why not? What do the OF competitors do if they run SCCA, or NOVICE for that matter....we can't and shouldn't tailor everything around being SCCA compatible. Just my opinion of course

I personally don't care one way or the other. There was no option for "don't care" so I didn't vote. ;)

Regarding the comment about OF, NOV, etc. Those are PAX classes that still require you to class your car using standard SCCA classes. So those are not really the same.

I want to vote for an Open class that includes any car with tags on it and isn't included in the PAX rankings.

Why not have a California Custom class too? No PAX, run whachu brung. The only two limits are a) two axles and b) you compete on the tires that you drove to the event on.

i'm voting no - here's why:

creating an indexed class like OF, Novice and TIR are easy since you always fall back on the SCCA class to determine the winner, aka pax.

creating a new non-indexed class would cause the club more of a headache than it's worth. just look at what the SCCA has to go through to manage all the rules...why would we want to take on such a burden when they already do it.

comes down to cost benefit to me...dosen't seen worth the headache for the club.

There's an additional concern of implementing a new class when the points season has begun.

I also voted no, because we made the argument before that people shouldn't run "gentleman's agreements" that allow them to run a a lower class than their car truly is based on people who care about the pax results (Alex in STT is just one example). If you create a new class, with a pax that we made up, you've distorted those results.

I actually look at the pax results at the end of the event, since it makes me feel better than seeing how badly I got whipped in my class (I've started consistently finishing in the top half of the event in pax, despite finishing 2nd or third from last in my class consistently).
